For The Sake Of His Sorrowful Passion

Have mercy on Robert Gibbs and on the whole world.

Please Mr. President, if you have any mercy in your heart, any mercy at all, give Press Secretary Robert Gibbs a new job. Any job that does not involve him answering questions.

If this continues much longer, this guy will become a national joke. I hope Obama spares him that fate.

I don't.

Does that make me bad?

I like the idea of having a National joke, as long as it isn't part of the stimulus package.

But I bet that some nights, Gibbs lays in bed and wishes he had gotten into singing like his brothers.

If he does replace him, I hope he goes with "Baghdad Bob". That'd be fun.

Gotta hand it to that reporter tho, he didn't miss a punch. Robert Gibbs (glibs?) was banking on his personal star power to brush off such a question, but unfortunately, he learned he has none. In other words, the audience wasn't "on his side", and that's the only way such a ploy can work. The laughter seemed to be AT HIM because of his remarks, and not at the expense of the reporter.

Gibbs is a giant tool, no question about that. But once SNL does a spoof of him, he will get the recognition he truly deserves. Until then, there should be a YouTube clip for each WH press conference.

Let the games begin.

I'll bet Gibbs regrets that he didn't listen to his brother Barry's advice and stick with singing for a living.

Matthew, does that mean you you "hope he fails"?

Every time Gibbs opens his mouth I am absolutely astounded that THIS GUY is who the Chosen One picked to be his mouthpiece.

I remember cringing at Gibbs' commentary on cable throughout much of the campaign. He's always struck me as snide, bordering on nasty, and hardly the consensus-boosting voice of Hope and Change TM that Obama was selling.

And now that Gibbs is REALLY under the gun, fielding questions from what is STILL a basically fawning press corps, he is even worse. Not up-to-the-job is putting it politely.

Of course if he gets canned we'll probably end up with Erin Moran from Emily's List.

Jay,
Not just fails but fails in spectacular fashion so that his name only lives on as a cautionary tale.

He's there to look bad on purpose so the Teleprompter in Chief looks good by comparison. Notice how nobody's making jokes about Obama's bad off-the-cuff speaking now?

Guess that job is above his pay-grade.

I'm glad a reporter is asking tough questions.

Incidentally, the reporter, from that camera angle at least, looks like Ed Helms from "The Office."

The thing is, this was a needless confrontation. Gibbs brought on the exchange by adding a stupid dig at the reporter. Had he just left it at "I'll check into it," the ensuing exchange could have been avoided.

Yeah, this guy is making Scott McClellan look like Tony Snow.

But his tie is pretty....

haha, he already is a joke. Certainly he's no Ari Fleischer.
Unfortunately I am scarred from seeing Helen Thomas' face in the close-up frame next to the reporter questioning Gibbs.
