Fr. Barron on the Movie "2012"
One of Fr. Barron's very best.

The purpose of this blog is as an outlet for sometimes ill considered but occasionally pithy commentary by my cohorts and me. We intend to comment on Church related issues as it relates to its transformation, now begun, into a lean and mean evangelization machine. Also within our purview will be politics, current events, and hopefully some occasional humor as well. Please bear with us.

Thanks for posting this! I'm more sure than ever that this movie is one to skip.
They've tried that already in China i.e. starting over without God. What is happening now is that people are turning to God by the millions despite the lack of government and cultural support. Cf. http://divine-ripples.blogspot.com/2009/11/video-communist-chinese-turning-to-god.html
The statue of JP II is interesting. I don't know what the director's motivation is for having it, but in an ironic way, it seems if anyone would laugh at his own obituary it would be the one who kept telling us "be not afraid" and did not seem to fear death.
This was a GREAT review and I thank you for sharing. I would, though, like Father Barron to address why, in two disaster movies (this one and Deep Impact) the American president is portrayed as a black man...could it be because, in addition to being anti Religious, the producer/writer/director is also racist....
something to chew on....(from a comedic angle of course)
