Did You Hear About Healthcare at Mass?
I'm interested to know if any of you heard about healthcare at Mass. Please go over to the National Catholic Register and let us know.
The USCCB came out strongly against the current healthcare bill which is now being considered by the House of Representatives. You wouldn’t know this from the mainstream media coverage which has been too busy reporting (celebrating?) that the Catholic Health Association endorsed the healthcare plan.Did you get the bulletin insert? Or did your priest talk about healthcare at all. Go over to the National Catholic Register and let us know.
The bishops did, however, put out a bulletin insert on March 11th asking Catholics to contact their elected representatives and urge them to protect life. The banner of the insert reads: “Stop Abortion Funding in Health Care Reform! Protect Conscience. Ensure Affordable Health Coverage. Allow Immigrants to Purchase Private Health Insurance.”

We never received the insert from our diocese and by the time I heard about it, it was too late to do the insert.
It is not too late to hold a press conference as lives-preborn and the elderly-are all at stake with this distorted "health" care take over of our individual rights and freedoms, which will infringe upon all Catholics.
no bulletin insert at our parish in Phoenix, nor a mention of it...would be very surprising if it were left out intentionally, can only imagine they didn't get it in time, like Fr. Richtsteig's parish above...?
No mention at our church in NC - we got joint email from Raleigh and Charlotte bishops via Catholic Voice NC on Sunday afternoon

And yet, in those sneaky announcements at the end of Mass, we were informed that the Bishop had declared today a day of fasting for an end to abortion and the protection of conscience rights, particularly in any legislation being currently considered!
Here in the Arlington Diocese,there was an announcement at the end of Mass, that the Bishop declared today a day of prayer and fasting. Our Parish also sponsored a letter writing campaign to our State Senators and pro-choice congressmen. The table to sign letters was very crowded before and after the Mass I attended. The Priest substituted the words "baby killing" for abortion when he read the announcement.
There was nothing in our bulletin. However, if you check our local FSSP parish bulletin on-line, you will see that something was printed plus the numbers of our reps and senators.

It is not unusual for our diocese to routinely send things at the last minute. The last insert was put in the bulletin a week after the fact. Guess they never heard of sending stuff by way of computer. This diocese is not exactly on the cutting edge. As a matter of fact they appear to be racing toward the 70's.
However, I have to question why St. Joan of Arc had the info and no one else seemed to.
Not mentioned in my parish in Baltimore, nor put in the bulletin. However, there was a Theology on Tap that addressed this issue for young adults (of which I am) but it was organized by other young adults not by the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

At our parish in Northern Virginia we did not have an insert in the bulletin. However, the priest made special mention of the Bishop calling for a day of prayer and fasting. He said that it was BOTH in reparation for the sins of the United States vis a vis abortion and the culture of death, AND specifically in request that this health care measure would not pass. Further, our KofC council was also very active and promoting this among it's brother Knights.

Our pastor is orthodox and politically savvy and I would be surprised if he received materials and DIDN'T distribute them. My guess is that he received nothing to distribute.
It seemed like the bishops statement came out very late in this whole miserable health care process. What took them so long?
