Caught On Video: Pfleger's Heresy

Just days after Cardinal George awarded him a lifetime achievement award, the Rev. Michael Pfleger has been caught on tape openly dissenting and teaching heresy from the pulpit during mass!

In this stunning video from a Divine Mercy Sunday homily, Fr. Pfleger openly calls for female ordination and female bishops.

Pfleger says...
"That's why there should be woman priests, that's why there should be married priests, that's why there should be woman Bishops and women Cardinals"
There is a good poke in the eye for Cardinal George. The Cardinal was already facing criticism for honoring Fr. Pfleger and Pfleger returned the favor by open dissent.

Cardinal George cannot let this stand, especially after just conferring an award. Pfleger must be disciplined and forced to retract his statements or immeasurable harm will be done to the faith. If Pfleger teaching this heresy goes unchallenged by the Cardinal, people will rightly conclude that the Cardinal supports these views, after all he did just give him an award.

Pfire Pfleger, now.

A big ht to Pewsitter for the Vid

I hope this video gets around.... UGGHHH he makes me sick. All the heretics are feeling their Wheaties now that the RCC is getting persecuted... I am glad there is documentation of who they are. Just yesterday, "Sister" Maureen Turlish posted a disgusting diatribe on Damien Thompsons blog saying we should think about charging the Pope with crimes against humanity! Another "Voice of the UnFaithful" member...

Yyyyeaaaah. I'm gonna file this one under, "and...?"

These morons (yes, I'm speaking about Pfleger AND George) just don't surprise me anymore.

Father Pfleger, et al, use the Catholic Church as a prop for their own massive egos and moral deficiencies. They wrap themselves in the mantle of whatever they find useful in the Church to bring attention to themselves as minor deities in their worlds of self-promotion. The Cardinal made a very egregious moral error in honoring Fr. Pfleger...but then His Eminence seems to lean upon the weak moral fence of liberalism...a fence that gives way to the stench and surface matter of the pig sty if not careful.

Pfleger should have never been honored in the first place. With all due respect to Cardinal George, the Cardinal has now put himself in a very bad position.

The cardinal is an orthodox and holy man. However, he has indeed put himself in a difficult situation. Fr. Pfleger has said previously that if he were moved from St. Sabina, he would simply start his own church. While I would normally say, "good, the sooner he's gone the better," I am sure the cardinal is concerned that a large part of his parish would follow him into schism and is trying to avoid this awful possibility.

With respect, has someone made the effort to inform Cardinal George of this? A few good bishops I know rarely have time to browse the internet looking for problems. I assume someone has drawn his attention to this latest breech?

Can someone post contact info for his bishop?

We've heard homilies like this in the Military Chapel system twice in our lives. The first time we were too young in our faith to know what to do other than find another parish. The second time we got a group together and wrote letters to then Military Archbishop Edwin O'Brien. His response was swift. The heretic priest was sent to a very, very remote location in Korea.

Often it is difficult to expose heretic priests to bishops, as bishops are very often unknowingly surrounded by dissenting staff that filter information before it gets to the bishop.

I think if we did have contact info for Cardinal George and enough of us exposed Fr. Pfleger for what he is, the information may get to the Cardinal.

In the meantime, pray for Fr. Pfleger's conversion. He appears steeped in the cult of personality.

I now have "Archbishop Edwin O'Brien" as my Archbishop in Baltimore. He's great in his ministry!

As far as more dissenting views of clergy/relig. see here. It's from a program for the Murphy initiative for justice and peace. Perhaps, though I'm wrong and they're just ads in the program. I can always hope.

The Cardinal might have been a victim of the Stockholm syndrome - being in Chicago for awhile can take its toll. In psychology, Stockholm syndrome is a term used to describe a paradoxical psychological phenomenon wherein hostages express adulation and have positive feelings towards their captors that appear irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims.

The Cardinal has painted himself into a corner now. He can't go medievel on him, or he will appear ridiculous, having just honored him. On the other hand, silence implies consent.

What is most scandalous is not what Pfleger said - what's most scandalous is the absolution confusion and lack of consistency in message being delivered to the Chicago flock - and that lands squarely at the feet of His Eminence.

The Chicago Archdiocese does not want to alienate the small minority community that Pfleger serves, so they've looked the other way for some time. But the honors bestowed on him are indefensible in my opinion...

I'd also advise contacting Bp. Joseph Perry, who is Fr. Pfleger's vicar. Bishop Perry (I knew him when he was in Milwaukee) may deal with him directly.

If the cardinal hasn't taken a stand yet, why would he now? This can't be a surprise to anyone.

The Cardinal does St. Sabina's no favors to simply permit them to follow a charismatic heretic, endangering their souls and minds. Discipline of Fr. Pfleger is called for.

1. To admonish and correct a wayward shepherd, lest he endanger the flock;
2. To remind people that popularity is not sanctity; nor a shield against criticism;
3. To show that our first allegiance is to Christ and His Gospel;
4. To proclaim the Eternal Truth and call people to the Holy Spirit, not to zeitgeist.

And if a bunch of the parishioners decide to follow a man into schism, then they will at least have made their choice visible and plain. They will no longer be able to fool themselves; they will know where they have freely chosen to stand. The Church owes a heretic at least that much - clear knowledge, not a lie that all is well when one stands in peril.

Here is the Eucharistic Prayer he made up for Holy Thursday this year. I'm not sure, but he may have made this Mass invalid by changing the words of institution.

What good did that do? It just means the poor soldiers in that remote location have to endure his heresy. I was stationed in Korea long ago. It would have been misery to have been subjected to that. He should have been sent to remedial theology and not permitted to preach until he corrected his errors.

That would work ONLY if he didn't speak Korean and his parishioners didn't understand English.

I had the chance once to hear Cardinal George speak on the Fr. Pfleger situation and indeed, schism is something that he is VERY concerned about. He truly feels that he will have to answer to God if Fr. Fleger's flock leaves the Church. Of course, based on what Fr. Pfleger is saying and doing, the Cardinal may have to answer to God if he allows his flock to stay in the Church.

"His response was swift. The heretic priest was sent to a very, very remote location in Korea."

Being sent to a very remote location was a huge humiliation for this priest. He was removed from a parish of military families and placed in a camp with no nonsense Marines. From what I've heard, from a Navy chaplain friend of ours, Marines do not put up with any monkey business. IMHO, this particular military chaplain was sent a clear message by Archbishop O'Brien. I would think it was more miserable for the priest than it was for the Marines he ended up serving.

Anonymous - he will have to answer to God regardless of what he does. If he behaved like a bishop should, he wouldn't have had to worry.

Cardinal George isn't going to touch Rev. Phleger at all. He hasn't in all the years he has been head of the Chicago archdiocese, and with retirement looming, where would it get him? The reverend is the reverend. Besides, Mike HAS done decent work in ministry and truly has his parish at heart...one can't overlook that fact.

Fr Pfleger was not ordained to be a social worker; he could do that work without being ordained as a priest.
The Catholic Church invented helping the poor and downtrodden. It's not a matter of social justice or being Faithful to the teaching of the Church it's both and.

"Mike HAS done decent work in ministry and truly has his parish at heart...one can't overlook that fact".

It's also not social justice for "Mike" to isolate his flock into an island of racial self-pity and permanent victimhood for the purpose of self-promotion and cheap theatrics. Father Pfleger has caused much more damage to his flock than anyone will ever imagine. He's a walking disaster. Mussolini made the trains run on time and had Italy at heart.

As a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago, I am sickened and disgusted that Fr. Pfleger was given a "lifetime achievement award" by the Cardinal. The damage done to the loyal priests of the archdiocese in incalculable. Fr. Pfleger has clearly shown that he is a race baiter and a heretic. It seems the only act that will get a priest sanctioned here in Chicago is being too orthodox. Cardinal George is a good man but seems entirely in over his head in dealing with personnel problems like Pfleger and, by the way, Sister Anita Baird, the woman who heads the useless and damaging Office for Social Justice, who apparently was behing this award to Pfleger. Baird should have been fired for this, especially after she stated that President Obama is not pro-abortion, but pro-choice, and that there is a difference. Her apology, written by the Cardinal, is not enough.

Pray for Cardinal George. He is a prisoner in his own chancery.

This congregation is actually already in schism, even if unofficial. If this priest has threatened to start his own church, so be it: he is not acting as a Catholic priest. Like the founder of Life Teen and others who went off and started their own churches, they had already left the Catholic Faith for all intents and purposes years ago but continued to lead others astray with the 'blessing' of 'the church'. At least if he goes off on his own, the damange will be more limited.

Many bishops kept silent about rapist priests too'for the good of the church' and how well did that turn out? Who is caring for souls?

Hierarchs have been rewarding dissent for the past 40 years or so. Doesn't look like it's about to change soon. :(

Anonymous - I sincerely doubt Pfleger has his parish at heart. He has his OWN vision of what these people should be based on his own version of reality, and Catholic does not enter into it.

This is SOOOO STUPID. Everybody know's women are second class citizen. They can NEVER become Priests or Bishops. Just read your bible.

First Corinthians 14: 34-35

"Let your WOMEN keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to SPEAK; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a SHAME for women to SPEAK in the CHURCH."

Ephesians 5: 22-24

"Wives, SUBMIT yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the WIVES be to their own HUSBANDS in EVERY THING."

First Timothy 2: 11-14

"Let the WOMAN LEARN in SILENCE with all SUBJECTION. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was NOT deceived, but the WOMAN being deceived was in the TRANSGRESSION."

Hey, here's a novel thought: maybe Cardinal George likes this stuff? Enjoys it. Thinks it's swell. He's not uninformed, or "over his head" or "a prisioner in his own chancery" or a victim of "Stockholm syndrome," (that was a funny one). You guys are endlessly creative.

A Cardinal could never be evil, could he, or an enemy of the Body of Christ? Seems the simplest explanation to me, rather than conclude that his ordination is some sort of magic spell against being just plain evil, and any evidence to the contrary is yet another fine opportunity for some hilarious creative writing.

Maybe his REAL brain is being kept in a vat in another galaxy, while his alien symbiote runs the Archdiocese!

Hank, stop chopping the Bible up into sound bites. You might as well be saying that sons are then 'third class' because the Lord confirms 'a mother's authority over her sons', or that Jesus is looking to break up families because "If anyone... does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children... he cannot be my disciple."

Take it in its entirety and in its real meaning. Men and women are not interchangeable, just as the hand and the mouth are not interchangeable. But they are all part of One Body, and no part can make do without the others.

I guess the veneration of Mary, as 'our tainted nature's solitary boast' means nothing.

Early - good catch. I'm thinking maybe Helen is posting as Hank so we mysogynist hillbilly Papists will take the comment seriously.

...but then we won't be Papists anymore.
...so then we'll ignore the Bible.
...so then we'll ignore the message.
...and become Christians again...

etc. etc. It's an interesting attempt at a shibboleth, no?

Early Riser said...

Anon - thanks for the head's up on the apology. You can read about it in the Chicago Sun-Times. It really is disgusting. In essence he says, "Yeah, I believe there should be women priests, but the church doesn't. My bad." Then he continues in an interview to whine about why people are so angry about this when there are babies dying in China!

So, if any of us are uspet about lack of orthodoxy, it means we don't care about anything else. He's just on a "whole 'nuther level" than the rest of us.

I really do feel so bad for the good loyal priests of our Holy Church that have always been faithful servants, have led thousands to the Kingdom, and are being abused and tormented by the media and even so-called Catholics that have turned their backs on all priests because of the sins of a few. Honoring a heretic like this was disgraceful not only to us as Catholics, but even more so to our good, holy, servant priests and religious, many of whom have silently turned the other cheek while living their vocations.

THANK YOU to all of our true priests. We LOVE you, we SUPPORT you, and we PRAY for and with you daily.

It is time for someone to stand up and give the Pflegers and other clerical criminals one swift duff out the door. Yes, they will take some poor souls with them, but the Church will be the better off in the long run. This Pfleger character looks like a big fish in a little pond. One more we have on the lunatic fringe and have to call him "Father"?
