School Orders Child To Remove Flag from Bike

Cody for President. I love the kid and his grandfather. The kid removed the flag when told to by his school and said he would put it back on every day after school. And if you can believe it, the family isn't suing for millions for emotional distress. In fact, they're not suing at all. But they did inform the press. Awesome.

So if you want to get a look at my officially endorsed candidate for President in like thirty years, check out Cody.

Note: I'm trying to take a positive look at a story which actually spells out our demise as a country. Think about this - a child was not allowed to fly a United States flag on government property because it might offend someone.

Watching something like this I can't help but get the feeling that some historian in the future will be writing a paper on the demise of America and they'll watch this clip and know all there is to know.

Don't they have a United States Flag in every classroom? They have to face it when they say the Pledge of Allegience, right?

I know my local elementary school says the Pledge, because they are just past my backyard and their PA system broadcasts outside, so if I am home at that time on a school day, and outside, I hear them saying it.

And don't they have a U.S. flag that flies in a prominent place in front of the school? All schools around my part of the country do. Maybe it's different in California....

How ironic that they couldn't get a comment because the school is closed for Veteran's Day.

I'll say one more thing:

I love many things about California. I lived there from 1997 to 1999. I have great memories of many things there, including siteseeing in Yosemite National Park, snowmobiling near Lake Tahoe, tasting wine in Napa Valley, listening to great music at Biscuits & Blues in San Francisco, hiking in Muir Woods, spending a lazy afternoon at the Santa Cruz boardwalk, driving along the coast on Route 1, and many other activities and attractions too numerous to list here. And I have several good friends who still live there.

But in spite of all that, part of me says that if California ever decided to secede from the union and become an independent nation, or maybe even become part of Mexico, I would simply say good riddance.

Racial tension? There is seriously something wrong with the governing body in CA.

It's unfortunate that the Tea-nami that rocked most of the nation after the votes were cast fell short of doing the same to my state of California. It's unbelievable that the stiff-necked liberals here would keep in office those who got this state in the mess it is in. Maybe next time it won't be so lucky and we'll be seeing the kiddos fly the Tea Party flag as well.

We had a lot of this sort of thing in England in the early days of Tony Blair. It looks as if America is now going the same way.

well- last year some kids had to take off American flag t-shirts on the 5th of May in Cali. I teach mostly Mexican immigrants and NONE of them celebrate Cinco de Mayo- just diversity-forcing, guilty whites

Apparently, the Superintendent backed off on it: http://www.fox40.com/news/headlines/ktxl-americanflagbike11122010,0,3045879.htmlstory

Good for them on raising awareness of the situation but not filing a multi-million dollar lawsuit. That takes a lot of confidence and pride because you know there are probably lawyers lined up around the block telling them how much money they could make from a lawsuit. I hope more people have the strength to take this approach. Just because something bad happens to you doesn't mean that you are entitled to a windfall of money.

This situation is so ludicrous!! Racial tension? If the American flag causes a person to feel racial tension or offended then there is a major problem and maybe that person should live in some other place besides the U.S.?

On the upside the school gave in today and is allowing the kid to leave the flag on his bike. They're probably afraid of a lawsuit ensuing due to this. Thank goodness, common sense and first amendment rights prevailed.

God Bless America!

The school does have a flag flying right out in front of the building. It is absurd to tell a student he cannot display the flag at a site that displays the flag. The principal who did this should be fired, as such a stupid person is certainly not qualified to run a school. He apparently does not even realize that California is north of the U. S. border.

Two thumbs up for the little guy! He's cool!
"Nah, I'm just gonna put it back on after school!"

renaissanceguy, the school's flag flying may be mandated by state law.

The problem with borders is that they're fluid and this school is likely pandering to those who claim that the US has no right to CA, and that we should return it to its rightful owners, the Mexicans who live in the US and don't want to. Although it seems to me that it would be much easier to move to (back to?) Mexico if you don't want to be in the US, there are those who appreciate certain aspects of American life, thus, deem it simpler to annex CA.

The Mexicans want California back? Do they realize they will have to take Pelosi, Boxer and the Hollywood nuts with it? Hmm...part of me says let's make a deal!
