Cain: Abortion Now OK In Case of Rape or Incest

I think I'm kinda' fed up with Herman Cain. Holy cow. Just days after announcing he was pro-life with "no exceptions," his campaign is now telling CNN that he's for abortion in cases of rape or incest.

What?!

CNN reports:

The campaign attempted to spell out his views Thursday in a statement obtained by CNN, but did not address any exceptions.

"I am pro-life, and believe in advancing the culture of life. My record as a pro-life candidate speaks for itself," Cain said in a statement. "Anyone who says differently is simply not telling the truth. Next question."

When pressed by CNN on his position, however, a campaign adviser said Cain follows the same policy used by the George W. Bush administration, which said abortions should be allowed in the instances of rape, incest and when the life of the mother is at stake.

"He has learned more about the issue," including the number of women affected in those instances, the adviser told CNN, explaining Cain's view.
Learned more about the issue?! What? When? Or do they mean he's got a better chance of getting elected if he touts exceptions?

Anyone else worried about a candidate who's running to be the head of the free world and is still learning the issues? He'd never thought before about abortion in light of cases of rape or incest before? Seriously? Give me a break. I'm thinking Herman Cain saw some polling.

I'm done with this guy. I'm not even going to consider him a serious candidate. It's not just about the exceptions he's touting now, it's that he clearly hasn't thought any of it through.

The guy's a joke.

What? What? Polling vs Life? Coming back to Santorum.

Pedro: Indeed, he's looking better and better each day.

What bothers me most about the flip flop is not the flipping and the flopping itself, but it's yet another in a continuing series of things that indicate the man is just not up to speed on anything. The guy has been in the public arena either on radio or as a candidate for a decade, and you mean he's just now coming to this realization on the most important social issue of our time? Unreal.

Your mistake is listening to anything CNN says... Don't trust faceless/nameless sources. Cain is, and always has been, pro-life. No exceptions. And is still saying that. This adviser is either non-existent or a liar.

You should be ashamed of yourself. The so-called "aid" is not named because he knows he's a liar. Herman Cain is a principled man who is completely pro-life. The only exception I have heard him state is when the there is a choice between the mother's life or the child's. In that case, he believes the mother should choose. Otherwise, he is pro-life, period.

The human being existing in the womb ought not be put to death for the sins of his father, whether incest or rape. It is unconstitutional to put to death a person for another person's crimes. Human sacrifice for the convenience of the mother too, is not a reason. Both the mother and her child are victims of the rapist, incestuous one, and have much consolation to offer each other. The child is the retribution, the compensation, if it may be said, for the crime of rape and incest, for the injury done to the woman and another innocent person begotten. The child of rape and incest will call up the guilty and demand restitution. Isn't this the reason children begotten of rape and incest are aborted, because their parent is a coward, liar, criminal? The victims are human beings and as human beings, deserve to be heard and appreciated for who they are.
It is not natural for a pregnancy to miscarry. There is caesarian section to save the mother. This case requires time, patience, love and human compassion. Give life a chance.

He said this on Meet The Press, or whatever that show was. Then he backtracked and made no sense when the hosts tried to clarify his position. So far he sounds like a whole lot of more of the same old-same old. Maybe he makes good pizza, though.

I feel the same way! It's like some of these guys forgot they were running for an actual job!

I'm with Anon @ 6:38 pm: let's see what the man says, not some
anonymous 'aide' quoted on a notoriously left-leaning station. Mr.
Cain has given over a million dollars of his own money to pro-life
causes-- i don't think that's the act of a man who is just giving lip
service.

And consider this: if it came down to Obama and Mr. Cain, who
would have your vote?

I'd want better evidence than a CNN text-only paraphrase of an unnamed aid, especially considering his background.

Newt might just be the tortoise in this maddening race.

I like that quote of "He's learned more of the issue". Um, if he's learned more of the issue then he'd know that less than 1% of all abortions are done to women that were victims of rape or incest.

I'm with MCH... Santorum 2012!!!

Newt had his chance, all those promises to decrease the size off gov't, blah, blah, back in the '90's. He'll talk the talk, but won't walk the walk. I want a record, actions, not just more promises and cheap talk.

For a book-promotion tour, it's an OK campaign.

He said he's pro life from conception yesterday. This looks pretty solid:

Strange, heard Cain say just the opposite and as yet to see any Catholic knee jerk bloggers quoting that interview. And I heard Cain speak to those in such tempting situations who may make the wrong decision in those cases as "law breakers" if and when the law could be changed. He just sounded like he would be reluctant to prosecute the woman. I think that just might be a similar position to all the orthodox pro-life groups as well....esp. like Rachel's vineyard. Better start at home then with such hysterics.

Cain said on Face The Nation yesterday he is pro life from conception onward. Check it out.

So we've got a ton of flat-out statements, before and after the report, that a person's a person no matter how small... vs one claim from CNN bloggers that a campaign adviser implied that the personhood disappears in rape or incest.

I'm betting someone--probably either not very high up, or they'd name them-- in the Cain camp said something like "our stance is just like the Bush administration's" and the CNN story came from there.

Cain this week, called Planned Parenthood---- "Planned Genocide, Eugenics".

This is what happens to people who are courageous enough to expose the true foundations for the culture of death....they get "Borked"....and when the "professional Catholics" begin the same approach they become naive pawns, used by that culture to stop the encrouching truth from getting too far.

I prefer to be on the side of those offering the greatest exposure of that truth rather than the sweet teacher apple polishers.
