Abortion is Sometimes Just Getting Rid of the Evidence

This is a horrible case where a woman seems to have forced her 12 year old adopted daughter into having an abortion because she was pregnant with her biological son's baby.

I shudder to think about how many young girls are forced into abortions.

Leading Causes of Death:A Reality Check

I was reading a very interesting post that listed the leading causes of death in the US. The results and the post were interesting, but a comment really made the point. First the list.

15. Assault (homicide): 16,591

14. Parkinson’s disease: 20,552

13. Essential hypertension and hypertensive renal disease (high blood pressure, kidney failure caused by high blood pressure): 25,651

12. Chronic liver disease and cirrhosis: 30, 444

11. Septicemia (systemic infection): 35,587

10. Intentional self-harm (suicide): 36,547

9. Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome and nephrosis (kidney disease): 48,714

8. Influenza and pneumonia: 53,582

7. Diabetes mellitus (diabetes): 68,504

6. Alzheimer’s disease: 78,889

5. Accidents (unintentional injuries): 117,176

4. Cerebrovascular diseases (stroke): 128,603

3. Chronic lower respiratory diseases (emphysema, chronic bronchitis): 137,082

2. Malignant neoplasms (cancer): 568,668

1. Diseases of heart (mainly heart attack): 598,607
Interesting. Now the comment.
Anonymous said...

The leading cause of death in the world is abortion, not disease.
There are approximately 1.2 million abortions per year in the US. Compare that to all the other leading causes and you realize there is no comparison. Over twice as many people die from abortion each year as the next leading cause. Double.

Think about how many lives we would save if we could just cure abortion.

1) Queer Eye for the Caped Guy

2) On a positive note, the new Superman movie will break box office records in San Francisco.

3) Chaz Bono said, "Duuuude."

I'll open the caption contest to you.

As of 8 p.m. the best comment seems to be: "This will make Jimmy Olsen notice me"!

This, Kids, Is Why You Don't Run With Scissors!

Yup. That's an actual x-ray. And maybe the most disturbing thing I've ever put on the blog (except for that picture of Charlie Rangel sunbathing. I'm still really sorry about that.)

But here's what happened. An 86 year old man was using pruning shears. To make a long story short he dropped them and then he tripped. And voila! You've got instant old man-kabob.

Turns out that somehow the guy's fine. No moral of the story other than add pruning shears to the list of things you shouldn't run (or trip) with.

Your Kids Are OK With This Child Killer, Right?

This just shows how little concern our culture has for children. A judge just said it's all okey dokey if two kids live with a...child killer. Oh don't freak out, she only killed the kids because she was stressed out at the time.

The LA Times reports:

She was a Brownie troop leader, a room mother, a Sunday school teacher and almost the definition of an Orange County soccer mom -- until she shot her two small daughters to death in 1991 while they slept in their home in Laguna Niguel, Calif.

Kristine Cushing, then 39, said she was the victim of anti-depression medication, a debilitating heart condition and worry over the impending dissolution of her 17-year marriage to former Marine Corps fighter pilot John Cushing Jr. when she shot her daughters, ages 4 and 8, and then attempted to kill herself.

She was found not guilty by reason of insanity and spent four years in a mental hospital. In 2005, California authorities concluded that she posed no risk and granted her an unconditional release.

Fast forward to now: The Cushings are back together, living on Vashon Island in Washington state, and an Oregon woman who married John Cushing four years after the killings has temporarily lost her legal bid to prevent her own teenage sons from living with the couple.

In his ruling, King County Superior Court Judge William Downing said Trisha Conlon, who only recently discovered that Kristine was living in the home, has not proved that Kristine Cushing poses an immediate threat to Conlon's two boys, ages 13 and 14, though he called for a full investigation to determine an appropriate final order.
So it's ok if children go live with a child killer? What?

Here's the thing. I guess the judge's perspective is that the woman served her time and you can't hold her past crimes against her. Or something. But how about the fact that she spent just four years inside an institution for killing her kids. Shouldn't killing your kids be a pretty important crime? Kind of a big deal?

If she was spending her life behind bars we wouldn't have some moronic judge allowing children to live with her. Lunacy. Absolute lunacy.

Atheist Brokeback Mountain Movie Bombs!

If an atheist movie falls at the box office, does it make a sound? Not in the media it doesn't. But that's why we're here to point these things out.

Remember the movie "The Ledge?" Well, of course you don't. Nobody does. I think even the actors in it (and there's some big ones) are working up plausible deniability. The Ledge came out during the summer and was billed as the "atheist Brokeback Mountain." And they meant that as a good thing, just so you know.

The director Matthew Chapman explicitly labeled it "the first overtly pro-atheist movie."

Evil Judges Knee Deep In Baby's Blood

Sickening. Federal judges, knee deep in baby's blood, do all the dirty work that Planned Parenthood cannot do legislatively. Voters are thereby disenfranchised and babies are disemboweled.

First, a federal judge has ordered that Kansas taxpayers continue to fund killing babies.

[Lifenews.com]In the latest skirmish in the battle between Kansas and Planned Parenthood, a judge has ordered the state to send taxpayer funds to the abortion business following complaints from it that it lost state public funding.

U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Marten ruled today that Kansas must fund the abortion business even though it did not cancel an contracts with the agency that were in effect at the time a new state provision went into place denying taxpayer funding via the family planning program to any agencies that do abortions.

Marten, in his ruling, also rejected the state’s request to only give Planned Parenthood taxpayer money on a monthly basis while its lawsuit moves forward rather than in a quarterly lump sum covering three months. Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Western Missouri had complained earlier today that it would have to close its Hays, Kansas abortion referral clinic by Friday if the judge did not order the stand to fork over tax money to fund it.
And then in Texas, a federal judge blocked Texas' new sonogram law.
A federal judge on Tuesday blocked key provisions of Texas' new law requiring a doctor to perform a sonogram before an abortion, ruling the measure violates the free speech rights of both doctors and patients.

U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks upheld the requirement that sonograms be performed, but struck down the provisions requiring doctors to describe the images to their patients and requiring women to hear the descriptions.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions, federal judicial appointments, and baby's blood.

Obama Wasn't On The Bus

Wow. This is too awesomely awful and stupid to check.

Remember those million dollar buses that President Obama used to tour Iowa the week before last? You might, he won't. That is because he wasn't actually on the bus.

Pat Dollard.

This is really disgusting! The so called “Bus Tour” was not a bus tour at all !

An AP reporter said that Obama might have ridden these expensive buses only one mile at each stop. Therefore, it wasn’t really a “BUS TOUR”! Obamaspent most of the “BUS TOUR” on an airplane traveling between stops. Itlooks like Obama has scammed the American people again……..with the help of the liberal media. It’s no damn telling just how much this “show” cost the American taxpayer.

OBAMA’S HYPOCRISY KNOWS NO BOUNDS !!!

“Greyhound 1″…. Secret Service Buys Two New $1.1 Million Buses For Three-Day Trip…
President Barack Obama (C) walks to his bus as he arrives in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, Minnesota, August 15, 2011, where he is to begin his three-day bus tour in the Midwest centering on ways to grow the economy.

He FLYS into an airport somewhere in the midwest, hops into a brand new 1.1 Million $ bus, paid for by you and me, for a “bus tour” ‘around the midwest’, and after an hour or so, gets driven back to the airport for ANOTHER FLIGHT, lands at another airport where another 1.1 Million $ brand new black bus is waiting for him… and repeats all that until his midwest bus‘tour’ is done?? Oh yes……and THEN he leaves on a 12 day vacation to Martha’s Vineyard…….to REST UP from this campaign bus tour!
So by my estimate, Obama (Man of the people) cost American taxpayers about a $100,000 per mile of actual bus time. Nice. Media coverage of this travesty? Zilch. Nice.

You know what liars do? They lie, that is what they do. Obama just does it more expensively than most.

Virginia's Abortion Regs Reveal Dishonesty

Michael New, writing at National Review Online, writes about the new proposed abortion-clinic regulations released by the Virginia Department of Health last week. Abortion advocates and their cohorts in the media have done all they can to paint the rules as arbitrary and unreasonable.

New makes the case that the regulations, which treat abortion clinics more like hospitals, are generally very reasonable.

They are emphasizing that the new rules could impose seemingly arbitrary regulations on room sizes and the number of available sinks. However, the mainstream media is failing to report that abortion clinics currently face regulations similar to those faced by cosmetic- and oral-surgery centers. In reality, abortion is more invasive and poses greater health risks than the procedures performed by these outpatient clinics. Furthermore, these new regulations include a number of commonsense rules, including requirements that a doctor stay on the premises until a woman is ready to be discharged, The new regulations also call for improved sanitary conditions and the presence of emergency equipment in cases of cardiac arrest.
New says, very rightly of course, that abortion supporters should support such reasonable regulation especially after the horrors of Kermit Gosnell and the general misconduct of Planned Parenthood regularly documented by Live Action, in the interest of women's health. Fat chance. Abortion is all the matters, women be damned.

I Thought This Was A Joke Until...

I was reading this article in the LA TImes about a group of "Catholics" who reject heliocentrism in favor of geocentrism because the Bible says so or something. I it was a joke until...

First the lead in...

A few conservative Roman Catholics are pointing to a dozen Bible verses and the church's original teachings as proof that Earth is the center of the universe, the view that was at the heart of the church's clash with Galileo Galilei four centuries ago.

The relatively obscure movement has gained a following among those who find comfort in knowing there are still staunch defenders of early church doctrine.

"This subject is, as far as I can see, an embarrassment to the modern church because the world more or less looks upon geocentrism, or someone who believes it, in the same boat as the flat Earth," said James Phillips ofCicero, Ill.
There is nothing conservative or Catholic about this silly point of view. Honestly, I thought that these people must be having a little fun at somebody's expense until I read this paragraph.
Those promoting geocentrism argue that heliocentrism, or the centuries-old consensus among scientists that Earth revolves around the sun, is a conspiracy to squelch the church's influence.

"Heliocentrism becomes dangerous if it is being propped up as the true system when, in fact, it is a false system," said Robert Sungenis, leader of a budding movement to get scientists to reconsider. "False information leads to false ideas, and false ideas lead to illicit and immoral actions — thus the state of the world today.… Prior to Galileo, the church was in full command of the world, and governments and academia were subservient to her."
Sungenis? I guess picking on the Jews all the time gets boring so one has to have his hobbies.

Why can't we be satisfied to make the case that Galileo was a jerk who purposefully picked a fight with a Pope who initially supported him.

Truth is that Galileo was a tool but Sungenis is a bigger one.

The Land Of Luther Is A Silly Place

That darn Pope is such a sourpuss because he does not jettison everything Catholics believe in some naive gesture of ecumenism toward an ecclesial community that probably won't even be around in a hundred years. He will never be appointed that "honorary spokesman" for Christianity if he keeps this up.

I swear, I laughed out loud when I read this article. I sincerely hope that this is just bad reporting and that Lutheran in Germany aren't this dumb.

PARIS - Pope Benedict will honour the 16th century Protestant reformer Martin Luther on his state visit to Germany next month, but Roman Catholic officials are warning Lutherans not to expect breakthroughs on issues dividing them.

During the Sept 22-25 visit, the German-born pontiff plans to stress ecumenical co-operation, meet Protestant leaders and tour a monastery in Erfurt where Luther once worked and prayed. He will also address the German parliament in Berlin.

The visit has prompted calls from Protestants for him to allow joint communion services and grant their churches full recognition. The tone is mostly positive — one theologian even suggested making him "honorary spokesman" for all Christianity.

But senior Catholic clerics have begun warning Protestants not to get their hopes up too much.

"Hopes about this visit have gone wild," Rev. Hans Langendoerfer, secretary of the German Bishops Conference, said in Monday's edition of the weekly magazine Focus.

"There's talk Pope Benedict could grant the Protestants a new status or could just say 'OK, let's completely change those rules about communion services. It doesn't work that way."

Catholic Bishop Joachim Wanke of Erfurt said last week that Benedict's meeting there with Protestant leaders in the St Augustine Monastery could foster closer ties, but also ruled out any breakthroughs on basic differences.
It is just a piece of bread after all, what is the big whoop? Right?

Ugh. Since the author of this silly piece does not directly quote anyone who holds these silly hopes and dreams, I hope that he just made them up or at least exaggerated. If not, Luther must be writhing in pain in a purgatory that doesn't exist (if he is lucky) for listening to the silliness that passes for Lutheranism these days.

All that said, it must break the Pope's heart to know that he will not be appointed honorary spokesman for Christianity. Guess he will just keep having to cling to those keys.

U.G.L.Y. You Ain't Got No Alibi

Boy, in addition to being really stupid, the editorial staff at the NY Times must be really ugly as well if they print this nonsense.

Writing in the Times, Daniel S. Hamermesh, a professor of economics at the University of Texas, Austin, and the author of "Beauty Pays," advocates for treating ugly people as a discriminated class.

How could we remedy this injustice? With all the gains to being good-looking, you would think that more people would get plastic surgery or makeovers to improve their looks. Many of us do all those things, but as studies have shown, such refinements make only small differences in our beauty. All that spending may make us feel better, but it doesn’t help us much in getting a better job or a more desirable mate.

A more radical solution may be needed: why not offer legal protections to the ugly, as we do with racial, ethnic and religious minorities, women and handicapped individuals?

We actually already do offer such protections in a few places, including in some jurisdictions in California, and in the District of Columbia, where discriminatory treatment based on looks in hiring, promotions, housing and other areas is prohibited. Ugliness could be protected generally in the United States by small extensions of the Americans With Disabilities Act. Ugly people could be allowed to seek help from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other agencies in overcoming the effects of discrimination. We could even have affirmative-action programs for the ugly.
The New York Times is clearly running an affirmative action program for the stupid.

Of course, the plight of the ugly editorial staff at the Times is of no consequence to me since I am so darn good looking.

Ron Paul Is An Idiot.

You know, every time we talk presidential politics on CMR, somebody will send us an email or write a comment about ALL Catholics should be supporting Ron Paul.

There are so many reasons why I could never, would never, support Ron Paul.

Here is reason #372. He blames the US for 9/11. Repeatedly. (Des Moines Register via Gateway)

Two weeks away from the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, presidential candidate and Texas Rep. Ron Paul says that U.S. intervention in the Middle East is a main motivation behind terrorist hostilities toward America, and that Islam is not a threat to the nation.

At a campaign stop on Saturday in Winterset, one man asked Paul how terrorist groups would react if the U.S. removed its military presence in Middle Eastern nations, a move the candidate advocates.

“Which enemy are you worried that will attack our national security?” Paul asked.

“If you’re looking for specifics, I’m talking about Islam. Radical Islam,” the man answered.

“I don’t see Islam as our enemy,” Paul said. “I see that motivation is occupation and those who hate us and would like to kill us, they are motivated by our invasion of their land, the support of their dictators that they hate.”

Regarding 9/11, Paul said that attacks against the U.S. from Middle Eastern groups at home and abroad can be traced to the foreign presence of U.S. troops, as well as America’s relationships with dictator regimes.
America is certainly not sinless, don't get me wrong. But to blame America, for inciting 9/11 is so wrongheaded it is scary. Ron Paul is an Idiot.

My Hurricane Went Better Than This Guy's Did

So I'm at my Mom's house in New York riding out the hurricane. We lost a big tree but the whole thing was pretty uneventful. Not as uneventful as our earthquake but not a big deal.

But my hurricane definitely went better than this guy's did. This guy was literally covered in...well here's the news report.

Fox reports:

A local news reporter from Washington, D.C. ended up getting covered in what is probably the remnants of raw sewage as he delivered live hurricane reports from Ocean City, Md.

WTTG-TV reporter Tucker Barnes was providing live updates for stations around the country as a wall of what he described as sea foam poured over him.

He noted that he had immersed himself in organic material. That "organic material" was most likely the effects of raw sewage pouring into the water during the storm.

"It doesn't taste great," he said.

He said it had a sandy consistency and added, "I can tell you first-hand, it doesn't smell great."

Hunker This

As we prepare for a direct hit from Hurricane Irene, I find myself in a mood.

It is not the wind. It is not the rain.

If one more person uses the phrases "hunker down" or "batten down the hatches" I think I will scream.

Hurricanes I can deal with. The torrent of clichés is unbearable.

Good News. Dallas Has 19 New Seminarians

The Diocese of Dallas just announced a record number of 19 new seminarians, according to the CNA. How awesome is that?

The Diocese of Dallas has a record number of 19 new seminarians, Bishop Kevin Farrell announced recently.

“Indeed the Holy Spirit has been working through parents, priests and our vocations staff to bring about this blessing for our diocese. The prayers of many have been answered,” the Bishop of Dallas said on his blog Aug. 19.

The number is an increase from last year, when 11 men entered seminary. Fifteen of the new seminarians come from the Diocese of Dallas.

“It is great to have some good news to report these days and a record number of 19 new seminarians is certainly good news,” Bishop Farrell said.
Keep praying for vocations.

This May Be The Worst Movie Ever

OK. Someone may need to stage an intervention with Adam Sandler. The only dificulty is finding anyone to come to the intervention that actually likes Adam Sandler. Seriously, this looks like the worst movie ever made. Ever.

It's called Jack and Jill and...it's too terrible to even explain. You have to watch.

And I couldn't just show you the trailer because it's just so bad that our blog would lose all its readers. So I'm still going to show it to you but with a little twist. Watch as George C. Scott watches the trailer.

This Soccer Coach Really Wants to Whistle

A soccer coach whose season has started out 2-2 has figured out what he needs to turn the season around. He needs to learn to whistle. He's so desperate to learn to whistle that he put out an open call for a whistling teacher on the team's official website.

10 Things About Church That Have Changed

Many things in the Church have changed since I was a kid. There are things you see now that you would never have seen back then and vice versa. For good and for ill.

Altar boys wearing sneakers. This drives me nuts. When I was a kid, we weren't even allowed to wear sneakers to Church. When we were serving at Mass, only shiny black pleather would do. Nothing but the best. Today, I see altar boys wearing ratty high tops or even sandals. Makes me wanna smack the parents upside the head. Big deal? No. In bad taste? You betcha.

Puppet Masters. This is actually an improvement. When I was a kid, I witnessed several priests condescend to Mass attendees with puppet-laden homilies. Thanks to AlGore's invention of the internet and so many Catholic bloggers with a taste for puppet blood, most priests are wise enough to avoid such nonsense. They may not fear hell, but at least they fear youtube.

Communion Line Free-for-All. Boy do I miss the communion line free-for-all. When I was a kid, people still had enough rugged individualism to decide if and when they would go to communion. Now you go when big brother in the polyester jacket tells you to go, row by row. Back then, nobody knew if you didn't present yourself for communion, now everyone knows so everyone goes. I say, bring back free-form communion.

Altar girls. I was an altar boy from 3rd grade until well ...

Greatest Big Brother Evah!!!

This is an awesome story from CNN about a 12 year old boy who delivered his baby brother. Money quote after he shows how he cut the umbilical cord:"Then I had to wash my hands because... yeah."

Great story! (You have to sit through a commercial but it's worth it. The kid is just such a kid but awesomer.)

I Hate This Story

I seriously hate stories like these. I'd much rather do fun stories and pass on to you guys funny pics or videos. But I saw this story last night after a reader emailed it to me. I was so horrified that I clicked away from it. But I couldn't get it out of my mind. So I'll pass it on to you but only because it's an indication of where we are as a society, as a culture.

The Daily Mail reports:

A grieving mother has won damages after blundering hospital workers handed her parts of her stillborn baby in an envelope.

Danielle Tivey, 27, of Canvey Island, Essex, was left with deep psychological scars after the ‘appalling blunder’.
Miss Tivey's son Tommy was stillborn when she gave birth to his healthy twin Alfy at Southend Hospital.

Grieving: Danielle Tibey, pictured with her partner George and other son Alfy (who is the twin of her stillborn), won damages from Southend Hospital in Essex

But the devastated mother had to fight for eight months before the hospital finally released Tommy's remains after staff lost forms indicating that Miss Tivey wished to have a funeral for the baby.

When the remains were finally released, a hospital receptionist simply handed a horrified Miss Tivey a brown envelope containing skin and tissue samples contained in six wax blocks.
The hospital gave the Mom the body parts of her son in an envelope. How much more dehumanized can you get? The boy's mother had to fight just to get the child's remains. They treated the stillborn boy as garbage.

I think this rings a bell for me because after my wife had a miscarriage at 10 (ish) weeks the doctors said they wanted to run some tests on the baby and despite our requests we never got our child back. We asked many times and they put us off, saying these things take time but eventually they admitted that the baby had been discarded.

Discarded!

I can't imagine what's wrong with the people in a hospital handing a mother the remains of her child in a wax block in a manila envelope. And these are care givers? I fear for our culture. I really do.

Bloomberg: No Clergy Invited to 9-11 Ceremony

There's no way this isn't intentional. It's pretty outrageous in light of the sacrifice of Fr. Mychal Judge on 9-11.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg has refused to invite any member of the clergy to have a role in the ceremony marking ten years after the WTC attack. Here's the thing -if it was an accident or an oversight it would've been corrected when it came to light originally in the Wall Street Journal but it seems that Bloomberg is persisting.

To be honest, I don't think it's so much anti-Christian as it is political correctness and political calculation. But I'm not letting them off the hook here. I think that for many in politics, faith doesn't play a role in their lives so religions are something only that need to be handled or managed, and only reluctantly at that. I'd bet they were worried that if they invited a Catholic priest wouldn't they also have to invite a Muslim imam to make things all equal and politically correct. So instead of dealing with that headache (and that would be a pretty big headache) they just said no clergy at all. And then patted themselves on the back for dodging that bullet.

But it still ignores the fact that Christianity played a large role in 9-11 from the thousands and thousands who rediscovered their faith through the tragedy, through the sacrific of Fr. Mychal Judge, and to those who saw that steel cross almost impossibly standing in the wreckage of the World Trade Center and were inspired.

Fox News:

"This is America, and to have a memorial service where there's no prayer, this appears to be insanity to me," said Rudy Washington, a former deputy mayor under Rudolph Giuliani. "I feel like America has lost its way."

A spokewoman from Bloomberg's office told The Journal that the focus, as in past years, will be on the family members of the fallen. Rabbi Joseph Potasnik told the paper he understood the mayor's decision, saying, "I don't know how to make it possible for everyone to have a place at the table."

But opponents say faith played an important role in the country after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

There was a plethora of interfaith events, and New York Magazine even named New York Fire Department chaplain Mychal Judge, who died in the attack and is immortalized in a picture being carried from a tower, the "most famous victim of the World Trade Center attack."

City Council member Fernando Cabrera, who is a pastor at a Bronx church, told The Journal he was "utterly disappointed" by the absence of clergy.

"They were the spiritual and emotional backbone, and when you have a situation where people are trying to find meaning, where something is bigger than them, when you have a crisis of this level, they often look to the clergy," he said.

Prayer Request for a Sick Daughter

CMR reader Bridget has a prayer request for her daughter:

I wanted to ask if you could please include my daughter Ella in your intentions and/or family prayers. She is a little over 4mo and is/has been listed for heart transplantation (status 1A). She already had surgery back in May, but her heart is just too severely defective to repair surgically again. My family and I only met E when she was 3 days old, but it was serious love at first sight. We all fell hard for her; then again, she is the most ridiculously cute baby on the planet. Truly.

But I digress. We are praying for complete healing of her heart and are asking for intercession through Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha. Would you join us in our prayers?

I understand if my request seems bold. I don't expect a response, but I figured I would ask. My baby girl deserves nothing less than all I can give.
If you can spare a moment, please say a prayer for E and her family.

Bridget, I can definitely say that when I drag the kids out of the pool tonight and throw them upstairs to bed, we'll all say a prayer.

Perry Signs Pro-Life Pledge

Rick Perry has signed the Pro-Life Presidential Leadership Pledge, something I think he absolutely had to do to win the GOP Primary.

And it's something that Mitt Romney hasn't done.

The SBA-List reports:

“Governor Perry has been a long-time friend of, and leader for, the pro-life community,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “His signature on our pledge is more than welcome and we applaud him for his commitment to continue to fight for women and unborn children.”

The Pro-Life Presidential Leadership Pledge developed by the SBA List is what has been defined as a “minimum standard” of what is expected of the next pro-life President. The Pledge contains four principles to which its signers are expected to adhere:

FIRST, to nominate to the U.S. federal bench judges who are committed to restraint and applying the original meaning of the Constitution, not legislating from the bench;

SECOND, to select only pro-life appointees for relevant Cabinet and Executive Branch positions, in particular the head of National Institutes of Health, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Health & Human Services;

THIRD, to advance pro-life legislation to permanently end all taxpayer funding of abortion in all domestic and international spending programs, and defund Planned Parenthood and all other contractors and recipients of federal funds with affiliates that perform or fund abortions;

FOURTH, advance and sign into law a Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to protect unborn children who are capable of feeling pain from abortion.

Gov. Perry joins the current field of candidates - Michele Bachmann, Thad McCotter, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum, and Newt Gingrich - who have signed the pledge, which was announced in June. Mitt Romney, Herman Cain, Jon Huntsman and Gary Johnson have thus far refused to sign the pledge despite a growing number of voters who promise, by signing the Pro-Life Citizen’s Pledge, to only support a Presidential candidate who has signed the Presidential Pledge.

“The purpose of the pledge is to give the Presidential candidates a clear picture of what is expected should they be elected to the White House and to also give voters an understanding of exactly which candidates are willing to be a trusted leader on such an important issue,” said Dannenfelser. “Governor Perry has a proven track record as just such a leader on the state level and has now committed to continuing that leadership at the federal level.”

"I not only pledge to protect unborn life, but have a record of doing so in Texas," said Gov. Perry. "I have signed legislation requiring parental consent for a minor to obtain an abortion, and have long advocated adoption as an alternative to abortion in order to protect unborn children."
This is a pretty big deal and there's no way I would've been able to support him without this pledge. I think many pro-lifers feel the same way.

This contrasts him well with a White House that "fully understands" China's forced one child policy.

Good Night Irene

Swell.

While Hurricane Irene is still days away and a lot can (and probably will) change, the current track takes her right over my house on Sunday as a Category 2 storm. I could live without that.

Is Pope Benedict XVI a Commie?

There seems to be an opinion from some conservative corners that Pope Benedict XVI is quite the commie and as dangerous to the free market as leftist icon Warren "Raise my taxes, please" Buffet. Richard Epstein of the Hoover Institution and Andrew Stuttaford of National Review Online seem to think so anyway.

Epstein writes that socialism has gotten Europe and the United States into trouble and says the solution is "limited government, low rates of taxation, and strong property rights." On that we agree. But Epstein then posits that based on his comments at World Youth Day, capitalism clearly has an enemy in Pope Benedict XVI. On that we disagree. There is no greater friend in the world of individual rights than the Catholic Church...

Laura Ingraham and Rep. Chris Smith on Forced Abortions

"This is just exposing what this administration has been doing from day one. Just like the eight years of the Clinton administration, and that is to enable dictatorship, to enable forced abortion and forced sterilization. Let's not forget that at the Nuremburg War Crimes Tribunal, forced abortion was properly construed to be a crime against humanity. It is no less a crime against humanity today and there is our Vice President saying that he fully understands the one child per couple policy that has made brothers and sisters illegal in China."

Evil is Soooo Funny

Comedian David Cross tells Keith Olbermann he's happy to learn that television watching shortens lives because it'll sooner kill old people who are "not contributing anything" and we'll all have to pay for to keep alive. This is so ghastly that even Olby doesn't laugh.

Maybe Joe Biden would "fully understand" the need to kill old people too.

Judge Hands out Condom Stuffed Acorns!

What a nut! A Pennsylvania judge has been cleared of violating judicial conduct standards, according to MSNBC.

So what did the judge get busted for? Handing out "condom-stuffed acorns" to strange women.

Wait, what? Is that some kind of inuendo that I'm not smart enough to understand? Far from congratulating the guy's genius for somehow fitting condoms into acorns which deserves some kind of honorary engineering degree, the court scolded him.

The court ruling issued Wednesday said that while the incident does not qualify as a violation, "it certainly lacks good judgment and must not be repeated."

The court also wrote that Stoltzfus' "preoccupation with acorns is mystifying."
Wait, the problem is the acorns? The guy hands two women a piece of synthetic rubber that men place on themselves to catch sperm from entering a woman and we're really focusing on the fact that he gave them acorns? Think about how weird the world has gotten. In this day and age when schools and the United Nations hand out condoms by the boatload I guess it's not weird anymore that a judge would hand out condoms. But wrap them in acorns and you've got yourself a violation of some sort.

But maybe this all makes sense in a way. You'll never guess what town the judge is from? Intercourse, Pennsylvania. Seriously. You can't make this stuff up.

Boehner To Biden: What The Hell?

Matthew reported earlier on Vice President Biden's reprehensible comments on China's one-child policy in which he call it "understandable."

Now Speaker Boehner has issued a statement that I sum up as "What the hell is wrong with you Joe?" via Kathryn Lopez at the Corner.

“I’m deeply troubled by the comments reportedly made by the Vice President yesterday regarding China’s reprehensible one-child policy, which has resulted in forced sterilizations and coerced abortions and should not be condoned by any American official. No government on Earth has the authority to place quotas on the value of innocent human life, or to treat life as an economic commodity that can be regulated and taken away on a whim by the state. I hope and trust that the Vice President didn’t actually say what has been reported, and that a correction or clarification from the White House will be forthcoming. The Obama administration should be focusing on jobs for the American people, not encouraging foreign governments to utilize abortion as a means of population and deficit control.”
Just as reminder, Joe "I fully understand genocide" Biden is a Catholic in good standing.

Boehner gives Biden the benefit of the doubt. I do not. Infanticide and forced sterilization as a matter of government policy is the logical end of all the policies advocated by the left. Joe is just too stupid to keep it under wraps.

Hopenchange: Arab Spring Gas Chamber Edition

Remember all that talk a few months ago about an Arab spring when Egyptians through off the shackles of the Mubarek regime? Green shoots of democracy they told us. Turns out those green shoots were Jew killing weeds.

Just days after a terrorist attack was launched on Israel from Egyptian soil, Al-Jazeera reports protestors carried signs outside the Israeli embassy “The Gas Chambers Are Ready.” Arab spring = Jewish Winter.

Apparently liberty is for naught as long as there are still Jews walking the earth.

Biden: 'I Fully Understand' China's One Child Policy

Vice President Joe Biden again mistakenly tells the truth.

Biden, speaking in China yesterday, says he understands their need for forced sterilizations and forced abortions, according to The Weekly Standard.

I'm warning you -hold onto your lunch. It gets worse from there.

What we ended up doing is setting up a system whereby we did cut by $1.2 trillion upfront, the deficit over the next 10 years. And we set up a group of senators that have to come up with another $1.2 to $1.7 trillion in savings or automatically there will be cuts that go into effect in January to get those savings. So the savings will be accomplished. But as I was talking to some of your leaders, you share a similar concern here in China. You have no safety net. Your policy has been one which I fully understand -- I’m not second-guessing -- of one child per family. The result being that you’re in a position where one wage earner will be taking care of four retired people. Not sustainable.

So hopefully we can act in a way on a problem that's much less severe than yours, and maybe we can learn together from how we can do that.
Hopefully?!!! Hopefully?!!!

My goodness, it's almost like this administration views babies like a punishment or something.

I'm sure we can all expect massive outrage from feminists in 3...2....1....er...uhm...maybe I should start with a higher number?

Update: The more I think about this the more horrified I become. It's bad enough to stay silent on human rights issues because we essentially owe China a gazillion dollars but to call this barbarism understandable is just horrible.

Stop Looking at Obama's Job Approval #'s

Liberal political pundits along with the media are scrambling for a silver lining to President Obama's plummeting poll numbers. And here's what they've come up with -the Sally Field defense.

Hey, some are saying, Obama's sagging job approval numbers don't mean anything because his personal favorables are doing fine.
Hot Air has this quote from the National Journal but as Ed Morrissey says, they're far from the only one pushing this meme.

President Obama, whose job-approval ratings are mired well south of 50 percent, has an important factor breaking his way as he seeks another term: Americans still overwhelmingly like the guy.
So we're supposed to ignore his job approval numbers and focus on whether people like him as a person.

Hmmm. It doesn't seem that long ago that the exact opposite was true. Remember around the time of Bill Clinton's impeachment all the media would talk about was that while his personal approval numbers were in the tank, HIS JOB PERFORMANCE NUMBERS WERE SKY HIGH!!!! AND THAT'S WHAT REALLY MATTERS!!!

ABC News had this to say:
You can't trust him, he's got weak morals and ethics — and he's done a heck of a good job... Despite his prevaricating, his sexual misadventures and his impeachment by Congress, a remarkable 65 percent of Americans approve of the way Clinton has done his job —
Even on the weekend of his impeachment trial, CBS News reported:
Throughout most of this year, more than six in ten adults have approved of the way the President has handled his job. Approval has occasionally risen even higher, as the public rallies to Bill Clinton in times of crisis.
So...long story short. Under Bill Clinton all that mattered was job approval numbers but now under Obama all that matters is personal favorability.

Wonder what they'll say next. Maybe the polls don't matter at all. Or maybe they need to start polling less Republicans and more Democrats. That always helps.

Qaddafi's Days (Mins) Are Numbered. Now What?

Reports have abounded around the Internet Sunday night. By the time you read this, things may or not have significantly changed. But the situation, as it seems right now is that Libyan rebels have been continually pushing back loyalist troops and have now entered Tripoli. It now seems that brutal Qaddafi's 42 year rule is effectively over. And while Qaddafi's fate is not yet known, it seems the Libyan rebels have won the day.

With all the talk of Libyan rebel's victories and advances with our military help, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that President Obama got us involved in Libya under the pretense of a pending humanitarian crisis. We had no choice but to go in and protect the same people now rejoicing in victory in Tripoli, remember?

It should be evident that from the beginning, this was not an effort to prevent a human disaster. It has been from the beginning, the US taking sides in a civil war. That, by itself, does not make it bad policy. Qaddafi and his regime are evil. But this outcome, military intervention in a civil war to remove Qaddafi from power, is exactly what President Obama told the nation would be a mistake. Not my words, his.

Kids Remember Nothing

Tonight my son asked me when we were eating dinner. It was 7:30 p.m. He'd honestly forgotten that I made dinner and he'd eaten it. So I reminded him what we'd eaten and he seemed pretty o.k. with it after I told him.

A little later, my eleven year old asked me if we'd have a vacation this summer. I reminded her that we went to the Poconos for a week last month. Oh, she said and trotted away happily.

You know, I'm starting to think children are kinda' dumb. This isn't revolutionary, I know. I've always suspected it. They don't remember anything. I'm thinking that for now on I'm going to save the money and not do anything with them and then just tell them we had loads of fun. I'm pretty sure they won't know any better.

Hatred of Priest Saves a Life

If you're a reader of this blog you've seen a few stories about videos about the abortion clinic in Rockford, Illinois which is a pretty sick place.

For the past few months, every time the ultrasound truck attempts to park outside the clinic, the abortuary's landlord runs his old cars out into the street to fill the spot. Think about how sick it is to go to such lengths to prevent women from seeing the baby in their womb.

On Wednesday, a number of priests arrived at the clinic to pray. The landlord was so disturbed by the presence of the priests that he spent his time creating and hanging anti-Catholic signs from the window. So consumed he was with hatred for the priests that he missed that a spot had opened up directly across the street from the clinic.

And because of that, a life was saved. A woman who was entering the clinic chose to go into the ultrasound truck instead.

Think about that, the hatred of a priest may have saved a life. Here's some pretty cool video of the event.

Totally Premature Yet Fun Veep Speculation

Ok. Assuming, and I know it is assuming a lot, but assuming that Gov. Rick Perry gets the GOP presidential nod, who should be be his veep?

There are some strong candidates out there who bring various things to the table. I will list some potentials before I tell you who I think should be the guy.

Gov. John Kasich of Ohio. Gov. Kasich has done a great job in Ohio and Ohio is crucial to any potential victory for Perry. Kasich has to be a strong contender.

Gov. Bob McDonnell of Virginia. Hasn't been Governor too long but he is also in a crucial state for Perry. I think he is a longer shot, but still someone Perry must consider.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty. The former Gov. of Minnesota and former (as of last week) presidential contender. I would have considered him a strong Veep potential, but his performance in the Presidential race was weak at best and he still owes Michelle Bachmann and apology for getting blood on her skirt when she beat him up. I don't think he brings much to the table. Longshot.

Rep. Michelle Bachmann. Nope. Tea-party fave and a woman, but too much baggage. No chance.

Gov. Rick Scott of Florida. Has many of the same attributes as McDonnell and he is in a crucial swing state. Strong economic record but only in office since 2011. He has potential, but not yet I think.

Sen. Marco Rubio. Marco Rubio is the man and my pick for Veep. He is a tea-party favorite, he is Cuban (gives people something history making to vote for, it seems they like to do that.), he is good-looking, and excellent speaker, and he is from Florida. Whoa! baby, would the choice of Rubio drive the liberals, particularly in the MSM, crazy!! If Perry chooses Rubio, all the stories for the next week would be about whether Obama should dump Biden for Bill Richardson and wouldn't that be too much fun?

You Can Never Afford Them

I have a smart mouth. My brain, not so much. But I know I've done enough damage to people with my words that I've learned over the years to hold my tongue. So I tend to... ruminate, as my wife calls it. (She thinks that's better than calling me dumb.)

But when confronted by a smart aleck comment, my mouth wants to attack. Maybe it's growing up with five smart aleck brothers and one smart aleck sister but I learned to aleck. I may not be smart but oh boy do I aleck. I aleck lots.

I'm telling you this because a friend of mine had a barbecue this past weekend. As my kids and I got out of our car and walked up the driveway, I spotted a man getting out of a huge black SUV. As God as my witness he had his collar up. I mean, who does that, anyway? I'd never met him before but he and his little boy were clearly going into the same barbecue so we kinda' walked up the driveway together. And the first thing out of his mouth was "Are they all yours...hee hee?"

Worst Mother Evah!

Watch this very odd video of a Mom egging her child on to ask Rick Perry about evolution and creationism. And then she asks her child, "Ask him why he doesn't believe in science?"

Kinda' weird and disturbing. The Mom seems like an angry sort. Perry sails through it though.

Driehaus, Be a Man

Today, the Susan B. Anthony List filed an appeal in one of the most important cases currently in the courts. As you might remember former Representative Steve "Crybaby" Driehaus’ filed a defamation lawsuit in the Sixth Circuit Court against the SBA-List for ads they ran against him. He said their ads caused him a "loss of livelihood" because he was voted out.

Hey Driehaus, actually the voters did that. Why don't you sue them?

A loss for the SBA-List would chill free speech in the country. It wouldn't just chill it. Free speech would end up like Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

If Driehaus wins, judges will decide if your political ad could subject you to a fine or even jail time. (Thank goodness we know judges are impartial, right?)

The SBA-List ran ads pointing out that Driehaus' vote for Obamacare was a vote in favor of taxpayer funding of abortion -which it was. Don't believe me, ask HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius who said as much.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of SBA List said:

“The idea that a judge would take it upon himself to police speech, specifically statements on a position taken by the majority of the U.S. House of Representatives, The Congressional Research Service, the Catholic Church, and the entire pro-life movement, shakes our Constitutional foundation. It is as if we woke up in the middle of Orwell's 1984...The blatant disregard for the First Amendment and the Constitutional right of people to speak out against the actions of those elected to represent them is an outright assault on free speech.”
Driehaus is tearing freedom up so bad the Constitution needs a safety word. The case is so dangerous that even the ACLU is on SBA-List's side in this. I mean seriously, do you know what kind of weenie you have to be to get the ACLU to side with the pro-life SBA-List? A Driehaus kind of weenie.

Seriously, if this guy donated an organ to Richard Simmons it would be rejected for not being manly enough.

The people of Ohio unfriended you dude. Get over it. You're like that girl suing the dude who stood her up at the prom. Get over it. They don't like you. Get over it.

But let's face it, Driehaus isn't acting alone here. The way I see it, he's pretty much the hit man of the left. The left is out to silence the SBA-List because more than anything they can't have truth being spoken. Not about life. Not out loud. Not in public. Not now. Not ever.

Married Priest Now Sleeping on Couch

The BBC is reporting that a married priest is saying that priests shouldn't be married. Two things -
1) Is this really news? A priest agrees with the Church? Sadly, maybe it is.

2) I really hope his wife isn't reading the newspaper or he's totally couching it for the foreseeable future.

A married Roman Catholic priest from Burnley has said he believes the church is correct to prefer single celibate clergy in their parishes.

Father Paul Blackburn is the most recently ordained priest into the Salford Diocese.

He is married with three children.

A former Anglican minister, Father Paul embraced Catholicism after growing dissatisfied with the direction the Church of England was taking on some moral issues.

He said single priests are better placed to serve God by giving their entire life to his ministry.
I'm joking a bit about this but it's actually a nice piece about a new priest if you can set aside the shock of the writer that the priest isn't pushing for married priests.

Wait. Is it shock or disappointment?

Disney And The Value of Children?

One the one hand, perhaps this is just a feel good Disney movie.

On the other hand, perhaps this is just another example of how our culture views children as some sort of parental wish fulfillment commodity. In this trailer, the value of the child is not intrinsic to his nature (especially since he does not seem God-given) but rather in that he fulfills the wishes and fantasies of his "parents."

Perhaps I am just in a bad mood, but this trailer doesn't sit well with me. Your thoughts?

The Odd Life Of Timothy Green.

A Bad Day for Fathers

Everyone once in a while we need some kind of sign or a benchmark to get our bearings, to know how far we've traveled on the road to lunacy. Just so you know, it's pretty far.

There's so much crazy in here that I didn't know where to start but here's the major nugget I'm taking from it. Two lesbians literally had the name of a child's father taken off a child's birth certificate and replaced by one of the lesbian's names.

News.com.au reports:

A man who donated sperm to a lesbian couple will have his name stripped from their child's birth certificate after a successful legal bid by the birth mother's ex-partner.

The woman took the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, and biological father, to court in May to have his name replaced with her name in the document.

The female child was born in 2001 and the women split in 2006, although they continued to share parental responsibility.

The man also played a role in the child's life.

New South Wales District Court Judge Stephen Walmsley today ruled in her favour, but expressed sympathy for the biological father.

"I am not persuaded there is any contractual right which can affect this application," he said. "As (the biological father) concedes, there was no agreement before (the child's) birth that he would be on the register when he agreed to donate his sperm."

The judge said the man and the child obviously had a strong emotional attachment.

"I have considerable sympathy for (the man) - he has done what he considers has been his very best for the child."

Outside court the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said he was devastated and labelled the outcome an injustice.

"She's not my daughter as far as the law is concerned," he said. "The laws are totally inadequate, there are no laws to protect people like me.

"It's a very bad day for fathers, that's all I can say."
Indeed.

But have we gone so far that birth certificates are now not documents of fact but pawns of political correctness? That seems like a great idea - instead of documenting reality let's have legal documents of birth be about making us feel good about the way we wish things were. Here's the deal, women can't have babies with women. Sorry. Not my rules. They can't. You need a man.

For the judge to use the fact that there was no written agreement that the father would be on the birth certificate as a reason to remove him shows either that the judge was drunk, concussed, or definitely has someone helping him with menial tasks like tying his shoes and helping him cross the street on a full time basis. The father is the father. He doesn't need written permission from the mother to acknowledge that fact. That's what facts are.

The lesbians can raise the kid. They can be two Mommys or the butchier one can even call herself "Daddy" if that floats her boat. But she's not the father.

Look, I'm sure some women see this as the most awesomely awesome ruling ever and I'm sure there will be a Lifetime movie of the week about it with the lesbians walking out of the courtroom in victory raising their arms like Norma Rae and Erin Brokovich together (at last.) Hey, it might even win an Emmy for Rosie O' Donnell.

But ladies, here's a question - Now that we've established that you can have a father erased from a birth certificate, can men petition to have themselves removed from birth certificates? Didn't think about that one did ya'? Because that would be kind of a big deal in order to avoid paying child support?

But right now, according to recent jurisprudence, men have no say in whether their child is aborted in the womb and even after the child is born they can be booted off the birth certificate at the whim of the mother and the stupidity of a judge.

That sounds fair. Good thing children don't need fathers anymore or we'd be in big trouble.

Arizona Court Rules Against Planned Parenthood

(CNSNews.com) – In a blow to Planned Parenthood, an Arizona appeals court has lifted an injuction that blocked abortion regulations from taking effect in the state.

After hearing arguments from both sides earlier this month, the Arizona Court of Appeals on Aug. 11 overturned a Maricopa County Superior Court ruling, which found that portions of the 2009 law — signed by Gov. Jan Brewer and challenged by Planned Parenthood of Arizona — could cause “irreparable harm” to women.

In a 44-page ruling, the three-judge panel’s unanimous decision, written by Appeals Court Judge Peter B. Swann, found that “the four statutory provisions that regulate the performance of abortions [do not] violate the equal protection or privacy clauses of the Arizona Constitution.”

Hey Rick Perry Just Told Me Obama's Black

Rick Perry called the national debt a "black cloud" hanging over America. Insert liberal lunacy here.

ABC and NBC among others all concluded that this was an allusion to Obama being black -because you know- America didn't know Obama was black until Perry's clever "black cloud" metaphor.

Check out how MSNBC edited the tape to further the racist charge, even though Perry clearly says the "black cloud" refers to the debt.

ABC News reported Perry's remark this way:

“He says he’s on a listening tour,” Perry said, “so I’m going to talk to him.”

“Mr. President, you need to free up the employers of this country to create jobs.” Perry called on Obama to “free up this country” from “stifling regulation.”

“I’m a pro-business governor, I don’t make any apologies about it and I will be a pro-business president.”

Perry warned that a “big black cloud” hangs over the country.
Nice how they left out what he was actually saying there wasn't it?

Mediaite reports:
Veteran White House reporter April Ryan, who was recently elected to the board of the White House Correspondents Association, was quick to call Perry out via her Twitter feed, tweeting “Rick Perry’s words ‘a black cloud over this country.’ He knows exactly what he is saying and appealing to. Perry has to remember if he is President he would be POTUS over all including black america who are part of his ‘black cloud.’”

Ryan, who has been one of the most aggressive questioners of the Obama Administration, told me that this statement shouldn’t be judged in a vacuum. “People aren’t stupid. Big black cloud, take back our country, these are code words, and people aren’t stupid.”
I disagree. Some people are stupid. Very stupid. Even journalists -if you know what I mean.

But actually this isn't a case of Ryan being stupid. This is race mongering. That's all it is. The media will say or do anything to get Obama reelected.

But note to Perry's campaign - Maybe the word "black" is off limits for the next year. Take that color out of your Crayola box. Oh, and you probably shouldn't mention Kenya either.

Update: MSNBC's Ed Schultz did finally acknowledge editing the tape badly but didn't apologize for calling Perry a racist.

Ryan Considering a Run. What Say You?

For me, Paul Ryan may be a dream candidate. I'd be pretty excited if he got into the race. Thrilled, even. What say you guys?

I know it's a big jump from Congress to the White House but look, Obama went right from the Senate to the White House and...oh...well, that's not a good example.

I'll agree that it feels a bit like we're pulling someone out of AAA ball and naming him starting pitcher for the World Series. But I think Ryan might just be ready for it. I think Ryan has shown leadership and a strong grasp of the issues, especially the economic ones. Remember, he ate Obama's lunch during that Obamacare dog and pony show. He ate it up but good.

Is he a little wonky? Yeah, maybe. But maybe the country needs a little wonkiness right now as opposed to Obama's high-falutin speeches with zero substance.

I can already see that they'll mock him for being so young. SNL will probably have someone impersonate him with one of those propeller hats or something and all the media will agree that it's hilarious because it's sooooo true and show it over and over.

Anyway, the Weekly Standard is reporting:

Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan is strongly considering a run for president. Ryan, who has been quietly meeting with political strategists to discuss a bid over the past three months, is on vacation in Colorado discussing a prospective run with his family. Ryan’s concerns about the effects of a presidential campaign – and perhaps a presidency – on his family have been his primary focus as he thinks through his political future.
Paul Ryan

“He’s coming around,” says a Republican source close to Ryan, who has been urging the 41-year-old to run.

“With Paul, it’s more about obligation than opportunity,” says another Wisconsin Republican. “He is determined to have the 2012 election be about the big things. If that means he has to run, he’s open to it.”
So, in short, I'm interested where your heads are on Ryan, a pro-life Catholic.

We haven't talked about him much here because I didn't think he was running. What say you?

Doc Wrongly Declares Unborn Baby Dead

This is a horrifying story with a happy ending.

A British woman was told that she had suffered a miscarriage. The couple was told in June that their baby had died at about eight weeks in utero. The docs offered her abortifacients but the woman declined, saying she preferred to do it naturally.

A month later after nothing occured the woman was stunned to discover that the baby was still alive. Needless to say, the couple was both incredibly happy and really really ticked.

A news report shows:

The couple were elated to learn she was still pregnant, but furious with the hospital for the mistake.

"They could have aborted my baby while it was alive," Kent told the Daily Mail. "How can the hospital make a mistake like that?"

Kent is due to give birth to the baby girl in February.
So a happy ending to a horrible story.

But it makes me wonder how often does something like this occur that we don't know about because the mother agrees to taking an abortifacient. That's a pretty scary thought.

The good news is that I'm sure after the lawsuit, the kid won't have to worry about taking out student loans to go to college.

8 New Horrifying Abortuary 911 Calls

Operation Rescue obtained eight new 911 recordings through FOI that reveal what they're calling "a scandalous pattern of botched abortions" at two Albuquerque abortion clinics. The most despicable moment comes when this exchange occurs between two abortion clinic workers who believed they were on hold.

WWII Plan: Let's Turn Hitler Into a Woman!

OK. This has got to be the stupidest plan ever considered. But you wanna' talk about thinking outside the box, this is it.

It seems the British hatched an awesomely bizarre plan to win the Second World War by turning Hitler into a WOMAN!!!

The Daily Mirror reports:

The Allies secretly schemed to smuggle female sex hormones into the Fuhrer’s food in an attempt to curb his aggression.

If the plot – like something out of TV comedy Blackadder – had gone ahead, it could have turned Herr Hitler into Her Hitler.
The plan was to sneak estrogen into Hitler's food so he would "become more feminine and less aggressive."

Uhm. So spies had access to Hitler's food but they didn't consider...I don't know...poisoning him!

But it turns out that Hitler had taste testers. It seems to me though that you probably could've found a poison that maybe didn't affect the tester for a while and then would kill the tester and Hitler maybe a few hours later. I don't know but it seems to me there are some stops between the short-term "let's give Hitler instant poison" and the long-term "let's turn him into a woman" plan.

And I don't know who came up with this plan but whoever had the crazy thought that an angry chick was easier to handle than an angry dude?

Let's Unionize Planned Parenthood!!!

Conservatives for years have dreamed of defunding the biggest abortion provider in the country.

Lila Rose and the Live Action gang has done several videos showing them to be a corrupt organization that covers up rape. The SBA-List has campaigned around the country attempting to get Congress and/or state legislatures to defund Planned Parenthood. Pro-life activists and local pro-life organizations have called, written, demonstrated in an attempt to defund Planned Parenthood.

But now it seems the left may do what the right hasn't been able to do. The SEIU is attempting to unionize the workers at Planned Parenthood. And this is one time conservatives should totally get behind the SEIU. Hey, there's no quicker way to bankrupt a company than letting the unions get in there. Just ask the car companies.

“161 care providers at Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette (PPCW) voted to form a union with SEIU Local 49 in a National Labor Relations Board Election (NLRB), says the Lund Report. “The vote was a strong majority for the union with a tally of: 97 yes for the union and 43 no.”

If further local Planned Parenthood shops decide to unionize under SEIU, if would prove a very complicated - although admittedly ironic twist, and certainly one full of poetic justice- for the brazen abortion provider.

Management at the Planned Parenthood clinic, of course, opposed unionizing for America for the same reasons that the rest of us think the SEIU sucks.

“In multiple emails, [Planned Parenthood CEO David] Greenberg told employees to weigh the arguments and make up their own minds,” reported the Portland Mercury. “But in an email dated July 19th, he writes that the union may be promising more than it can deliver and says, ‘I hope you will not vote to have SEIU represent you.’”

Greenberg cited the increased costs required for unionization as one the main reasons Planned Parenthood management was opposed to the move.

A more pressing issue is how much say the union will have in running things at Planned Parenthood.
This couldn't make me happier. Honestly. The leftist lunatics are seeking to milk other leftist lunatics dry. It's kinda' like the snake eating its tail. Or something.

I can't believe we didn't think of this earlier. Let's all get behind unionizing Planned Parenthood. I can't wait for the first strike!

I foresee a day when pro-lifers and union thugs will march together hand in hand outside abortion clinics. It'll be sooooo beautiful. I'll bring the inflatable rat.

The Horrible Meanings Behind Nursery Rhymes

My wife went out to a shower today. I'm still not even sure if it was a baby shower or a wedding shower. I don't really ask a lot of questions. All I know is she got dressed up and left me home with the five kids.

It was raining so me, being Super Dad, picked out a large book of nursery rhymes from our bookshelf to read to the four year old. I asked my six year old son if he wanted to listen and he looked at me like I had three or maybe four heads that were each speaking Portuguese in Pig Latin.

OK. I'll take that as a no. I'm perceptive like that.

I started with Humpty Dumpty, the epic tale of an unfortunate egg. My eight year old daughter, sitting nearby, interrupted by asking "What's the deal with Humpty Dumpty?"

She asked why, if you were an egg, would you sit on a wall in the first place. Doesn't that seem like a silly thing for an egg to do? My nine year old daughter added that she wouldn't sit on a wall and she was human which is a lot more difficult to break than an egg.

The eight year old wondered who puts horses in charge of putting eggs back together anyway. No wonder they couldn't put him together.

So with my eight and nine year olds in tow I announced that we would look it up on the internet.

And It Stoned Me

Oh, the water; Oh, the water; Oh, the water
Hope it don't rain all day

And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like Jelly Roll
And it stoned me
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like goin' home
And it stoned me

--Van Morrison

The dread. I looked out the window, as I had all morning and the rain was still coming down. Hard. Sunday is the day on my plan that calls for a long run and my schedule tomorrow did not allow for a postponement. I had been checking the sky and the Nexrad radar all morning to see if it would break. By 1 o'clock in the afternoon it became clear to me that it wouldn't stop.

So a decision faced me square, raised its head, looked me in the eye and asked the question. Will you run today or not?

I used to be a runner. I remember the days, just a few years ago, in which I would run for hours on the trails and among the expansive woods that surround my house. When I say I used to be a runner, you have to have been a runner to know what I mean. When you are a runner, running is as close to heaven as you are likely to find on this earth. When every part of your body works in perfect harmony to propel you forward and to give you joy.

Your lungs, your heart, your legs, and even your sweat glands all doing what the things for which they are designed. Separate. Together. All in perfect harmony. You hear the birds chirp and feel a slight gust of wind as the ground slips beneath your feet. You don't think about running when you are a runner any more than a bird thinks about flying, its just who you are and what you do. On a day like that, I don't know how any rational being could be an atheist, God seems everywhere.

But these are all memories to me now of how things used to be. Five years ago I gave it up for all the same 'practical' reasons that people don't go Church. Too busy. Other priorities. What am I really getting out it? Blah. So now the memories of God seeming to be everywhere are just that, memories. It is easy, sometimes, to convince myself that it was never really that good. Not really.

A few months ago I took up running again, but it seemed that my former lover would not forgive or forget my abandonment. Each and every run for the last several months has been an ache filled slog as far from joy as hell is from heaven.

I looked out the window and the rain continued to pour down, running in rivers on the side of the street. Thirteen miles in this? That's crazy, I thought. I dreaded it.

But I put on my shoes and my hat. My wife asked me as I headed out the door, "Can't you just skip it today?"

"No. Not today."

And so I headed out into the rain which, for the first few miles, alternated between drizzle and light rain. And then the sky opened up. Rain poured down by the bucketful. The sides of the roads were rivers. I ran a serpentine path down the middle of the street trying to find the highest point between the cambers in order to avoid the deepest puddles. Sometimes there was no camber to be found and I ran through puddles that increasing resembled ponds and lakes.

And the rain poured and the miles went by. And then I noticed something. Actually, I not noticed something. Me. And it stoned me to my soul.

As the rain washed over me, I felt a baptism of sorts. The rain, it seemed to me, had washed away the sin of abandonment. The purgatorial slog was gone. My legs turned over without me willing them to do so. I just ran and it felt good. I was happy. The joy was back. My sins had been forgiven and God once again seemed everywhere. I had been welcomed back.

The rain continued to wash over me and each drop and each mile seemed to say 'Let us have a feast. This brother of ours was lost and has been found. We must welcome him back. A runner."

Santorum Ad Highlights 7 Kids and Minivan

This is a pretty clever ad from Santorum in that it's amusing but also gets the point across that this guy is the real deal on family values.

This Is Your Team

As I think Barack Obama is destroying this country more effectively than Godzilla took out Tokyo I sat down to watch the debate the other night. As they came out I saw John Huntsman, Ron Paul, Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum, Herman Cain, Michelle Bachmann, and Mitt. I like some of them but I worry about their electoral chances. Others, I think could get elected but I don't trust.

Immediately, I found myself running the names of those whom I wish were running like Chris Christie, Paul Ryan, Bobby Jindal, or Sarah Palin.

I couldn't help but be reminded of the scene from Hoosiers where Coach Norman Dale played by the great Gene Hackman introduces his team to the students only to hear them all cheer "Jimmy! Jimmy!" for the star player who wasn't going to play.
Hackman then returns to the microphone and says:

I would hope you support who we are, not who we are not.

These six individuals have made a choice to work, a choice to sacrifice, to put themselves on the line 23 nights in the next 4 months to represent you, this High School.

That kind of commitment and effort deserves and demands your respect.

This is your team.
After Perry today, maybe we'll get some other candidates joining the team like Jimmy did in "Hoosiers." But maybe not. And some of these candidates could do great things if given the chance. I guess I have to stop hoping for the perfect candidate. This is the team.
