These days, people say "Season's Greetings," which, when you think about it, means nothing. It's like walking up to somebody and saying "Appropriate Remark" in a loud, cheerful voice.

Abortion Related Deaths Rising

Those who care most about women don't want you to know that they're killing women. And they say that if you don't let them continue, women will die!!!

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense to me either.

News reports indicate that 12 women died from legal abortions in 2008, the most recent year for which those numbers are available, according to news reports. That's a spike in the yearly numbers, just so you know.

To make it worse, these numbers are likely waaaaay underreported as many states like California don't even report such numbers because obviously the right to abort children is more important that keeping women safe.

They also say that more than 400 women have died from legal abortions since 1973, according to data supplied by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. 403 to be exact.

Pro-Life America has this heartbreaking account of just one of these stories:

Michelle Madden, 18, was a college freshman when she became pregnant. Michelle decided to have an abortion after a doctor told her that the drugs she was taking for epilepsy would cause her baby to be deformed. O.B. Evans performed the abortion at the Family Planning Medical Center of Mobile, Ala. Three days after the abortion, Michelle collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital. At the hospital, doctors found a leg bone, two pieces of the baby's skull and some of the placenta inside Michelle's uterus.

Michelle died of a blood infection resulting from the abortion three days after admission to the hospital.
Let's remember this, the abortion industry is an industry. It's about money. They've killed hundreds, according to the government and likely hundreds more in reality.

And they're funded with taxpayer money too. But it's for a greater good remember. Some women must be sacrificed for the greater good of a made up right to kill the unborn.

Yes, the deaths of the mothers from abortion are under reported, as the hospital is often not told that the woman had an abortion, and so only the immediate cause such as haemorrhage or infection is given in the official records.

1.2 million legal abortions a year. Let's say 1,000 women died. That is less than 1 woman per thousand.

Delivering a live child? (not counting deaths from a miscarriage) 13 per thousand.

There are many reasons to not have an abortion but giving birth is far more dangerous. About 10 times more dangerous.

That is nonsense! You just made up that absurd figure that would mean every maternity hospital would have women dying every week! Look up the WHO figures for maternal deaths according to country. Death of the mother related to the birth of her child is extremely rare where medicine is of high quality. Abortion, on the other hand, being an unnecessary and violently invasive act, is inherently dangerous and kills many women, permanently injures countless more, and is notoriously hidden as the cause of death. In India alone, 20,000 women die as a result of abortions each year. Ireland, due to its excellent medical ethics, and no abortion, has had one of the lowest maternal death rates in the world for thirty years. Birth, is a natural, necessary process which joyously brought us all out from our mother's womb.

Lynda -- From Wikipedia: According to the Consortium on National Consensus for Medical Abortion in India, every year an average of about 11 million abortions take place annually and around 20,000 women die every year due to abortion related complications. Most abortion-related maternal deaths are attributable to illegal abortions.

Did you get that? illegal abortions!
That's what you want to bring us back to? The coat hanger, back alley days? NO THANKS. And check the CDC data -- abortion is far safer than childbirth -- despite the skewed information presented in the post above.

You are talking complete and utter nonsense. Abortion is generally legal in India. What's illegal is killing the child based on his/her sex. Obviously sex-selective abortions are carried out in the same way as any other killing of a child in utero. Millions of Indian girls are killed in their mothers'' wombs because they are girls. Abortion is unnecessary, and inherently dangerous for the mother, always fatal for he child. Countries with "liberal" abortion have high rates of maternal death. Millions of women suffer permanent injury, e.g. perforated bowel, infertility, as a result of this barbaric practise. Abortion is the opposite of medicine, and when medical systems and professions are contaminated by it, the standards of medicine and medical ethics fall dramatically, causing more deaths and injury. Even WHO accepts that maternal deaths from abortion are vastly under reported.

The statistics comparing abortion to childbirth are corrupted. As was pointed out, many states do not report abortion related deaths as abortion related. Yet, those deaths have to reported somewhere. Would anyone care to guess what category is used to report them. Yes, they are reported as pregnancy related, so they show up in the numbers of women who die in childbirth. Also in many states any death of a pregnant woman or a woman who was pregnant in the past year, is considered to be pregnancy related, regardless of cause. In other words, a pregnant woman who gets shot in a bank robbery or new mother who dies in a tornado, counts in pregnancy related death statistics. The numbers are worthless as an argument for the "safety" of abortion.

Sorry for the double post. Don't know how that happened.

Anonymous: since you are so keen on statistics, what is the situation in Ireland regarding deaths from abortion and childbirth? I'm certain you can help with your finely honed research skills. Thank you so much.

I'm pretty sure anonymous is using Wikipedia's global data on deaths in childbirth, vs. American data on deaths from abortion. Or in other words, comparing apples and the entire Rosaceae.

Gee, I wonder why they're not willing to sign a name.

Anonymous - Are there statistics for the safety of the baby as well in both scenarios?

Bernie Nathenson debunked the abortion stats that he and the other founders of NARAL used to flimflam abortion into legality and themselves into a highly lucrative profession many years ago. They knew that people would take any number about "back alley" abortions that he and his cohorts threw out, and they ran with it. He spent so many later years fighting the monster that he had helped to create.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the very real, scientifically proven link between abortion and breast cancer. Abortion "safer" than childbirth? Give me a break.
