Biden, Pelosi to Represent USA at Papal Mass

What an absolute horror this is. The White House has selected Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and the President of Georgetown University to represent the United States at the Pope Francis' inaugural Mass.

The one bright spot is that New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez, the pro-life governor of New Mexico, will also attend.

Here's the Administration's press release via The Weekly Standard:

President Barack Obama today announced the designation of a Presidential Delegation to attend the Inauguration Mass celebrating the Pontificate of His Holiness Pope Francis, which will take place on March 19, 2013.

The Honorable Joseph R. Biden Jr., Vice President of the United States, will lead the delegation.

Members of the Presidential Delegation:

The Honorable Susana Martinez, Governor of the State of New Mexico

The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Leader of the United States House of Representatives and United States Representative from California

Dr. John J. DeGioia, President, Georgetown University
Biden and Pelosi are infamously and radically pro-abortion rights. DeGioia has presided over the absolute disappearance of any sign of Catholic identity at the Jesuit school, so much so that a number of Georgetown University alumni, students and others including author William Peter Blatty (along with the aid of The Cardinal Newman Society) are filing a canon lawsuit with the Archdiocese of Washington and the Vatican, seeking remedies up to and including the possible removal or suspension of Georgetown’s right to call itself Catholic or Jesuit in its fundraising and representations to applicants.

What a shame that these folks are representing this country. But maybe now we're to the point that these are our true representatives.

How embarrassing.

This will present an opportunity, I suppose for the exercise of Canon 915.

Well a moment for more scandal when Pelosi and Biden are given communion. And there is no doubt that they will receive, probably from the new Holy Father himself. Not that he will know them. But somebody will make sure it happens.

Hey, why not send Sebelius, Cecile Richards, Hugh Hefner and Larry Flynt while they're at it?

Here's a defining moment for the new Pontiff. Will he or won't he direct that pro abort politicians are NOT to present themselves for Communion? If he doesn't then a lot of th pro life crowd can justifiably feel abandoned.

God's will be done, may He have mercy on us all.

Remember that jurisdictional excuse that Wuerl gives about the out of state pro-aborts that desecrate the Holy Species in D.C. ?

Now now, the administration is simply putting forth what it deems "Good Catholics." I for one, want these people to come into contact with Pope Francis, he's not unaware of the reality of pro-abort politicians. He's not unaware of the world anymore than Pope Benedict XVIth was unaware. The thing is, if you keep putting yourself before men of grace, it will either start to permeate your soul, or you will reject it entirely. So I want Biden and Pelosi and the Georgetown President to hear Pope Francis, perhaps (Holy Spirit willing) he will be able to feed the gospel to these hearts that do not know they are hungry.

Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will USE this for the good of all involved. May Mary, Mother of the Church, send many angels to prepare the way.

Your president sending these people to the Vatican to greet the Holy Father is like giving him the middle finger. Disgraceful.

Well, the U.S. has to send SOMEBODY of suitable rank to such an important event, but the pickings of truly observant Catholics within the Administration or Congress are pretty slim.

Maybe they just should have stuck with Cong. Dan Lipinski of IL, a genuine pro-life Democrat who voted against Obamacare and is (reportedly) in line to become the next ambassador to the Holy See.

Ignorance or insolence on the part of Dear Leader. May God have mercy on us all.

Heres how you solve the problem of giving communion to pro abort supporters like Pelosi and Biden.....just let Cardinals Wuerl, Dolan or O'Malley give it to them. They have already caused scandal by honoring pro abortion politicians, so then what would one more scandal or sin on their soul cause. They obviously don't care about the Blessed Sacrament so just steer all the people that approve of baby murder to those cardinals. Problem solved.

Cardinal Burke should make sure that the relevant people know. If you're having all these publicly and obstinately gravely-sinning Catholics attending as reps for various States, Communion ought not to be distributed. This is a foreseeable scandal and it would be gravely sinful for this to be allowed to happen. This would be an intentional profanation of Our Lord by those organising the Mass and the delegates attending, and lead others into sin. This can easily be avoided - there is absolutely no excuse for allowing this to happen. The Holy See is in charge of this Papal Mass and in control of what happens at it. God spare us such an egregious scandal. If one is inviting reps of states regardless of their faith status, Holy Communion ought not be distributed.

This is nothing more then and absolute pathetic test of this stupid administration to try to test Pope Francis. Dear God smack them down.

Blackrep said...

It's not a hard test. If he gives these jokers communion, he fails. He fails the unborn; he fails those who work to protect them. We'll see if the new boss is the same as the old boss.

I wish they had sent Justice Scalia.

Publicly proclaimed error by public people holding high public office must be publicly repudiated.

No more passes for Biden, Pelosi et. al.

Their sacramental confessions must remain private but their repudiation of their past public proclamations of error must be done in public.

Failed President sending Failed Catholics.

Swiss guards should stop them at the gate and say, "Pro-lifers only." Scandal givers can watch the Mass on TV from their hotel rooms.

For what it's worth, there's a White House Petition about this very thing.

The petition won't change anything, but I signed it. Obama has sunk to a new low; I'm going to have to go to confession for the thoughts I'm thinking right now.

I'm not surprised at all. Who else does the Administration know who claims to be Catholic? These pseudo Catholics won't be representing the United States. Real Catholic Americans in attendance will do that.

"A person should examine himself and so eat the bread and drink the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgement on himself" 1st Corinthians:28-29

Pelosi and Biden should hit the confessional first...they may miss Mass because it will take a while...

There is reason for hope. Cardinal Bergoglio in 2007 said "we should commit ourselves to ‘eucharistic coherence’, that is, we should be conscious that people cannot receive holy communion and at the same time act or speak against the commandments, in particular when abortion, euthanasia, and other serious crimes against life and family are facilitated. This responsibility applies particularly to legislators, governors, and health professionals."

I hear the @pontifex twitter account was revived in order to announce the election of Pope Francis. Perhaps a polite twitter campaign might catch the Holy Father's ear in time? He seems like someone who might listen directly to the masses.

I suggest something like, "Holy Father, please withhold Communion from the unrepentant, public enemies of the unborn, Biden and Pelosi."

Anonymous said...

I imagine the Holy Father will give very few people the Eucharist himself. These CINOs will probably present themselves to some other priest who won't even know them. Then these politicians will plaster their oh-so-devout pictures receiving Our Lord on their websites to show what wonderful "Catholics" they are! Just remember, however, they are bringing damnation on their own souls by receiving Our Lord unworthily.

They need to be publically excommunicated for their anti-Catholic stance on the issues! It will take adversity, personal suffering, or the warning to penetrate the hard hearts of many in our government and universities! Elizabeth Anne

But how, with all those people there, will they be able to stop these pro-abortion people from receiving Communion? UNLESS Pope Francis says something prior to Communion, I'm afraid they will once again commit sacrilege by taking Communion unworthily. :(

Sophia's Favorite said...

Actually, if he gives them Communion, all he fails is "recognizing parliamentarians of a country he's not from".

The trope you idiots are looking for is "We All Live In America".

Seems consistent with this administration. That ignorant Catholics who want to recreate the Magesterium in their own image should be the ones to represent this current admin. I hope they goto confession before receiving communion. Or don't receive. If for no other reason, the same reason they wouldn't goto Saudi Arabia and walk on the koran. They clearly don't view the faith properly, so at least treat it as a respectful ambassador, and stay in the pew.
