Media Finding it Difficult to Find Nuns Who Look Like Nuns for their Anti-Church Rants
I noticed something odd (or maybe not so odd) in the anti-Catholic rants in the media recently. While they talk about things like the "stained glass ceiling" to refer to the fact that women can't become priests they use images of nuns that don't exactly correlate with their message.
60 Minutes used a graphic of a habited nun in their story blasting the Church for misogyny. And just yesterday, NBC's The Today show extensively used footage of the Sisters of Mary from Ann Arbor in connection with an argument for women becoming priests from Joan Chittister.
I understand why they're doing this. Obviously they are having a problem finding Sisters who look like Sisters so they're borrowing the images of faithful Catholic nuns in order to advance their agenda. Their argument wouldn't be as effective with images like these, would it?

You are spot on. I don't think the habited nuns appreciate it either. I know our Dominican nuns don't appear to.

Is that Joan Chittister? Looks like a bunch of old ladies with early alzheimers (sp).
Those 4 old ladies in the bottom picture are my great-aunts, feistiest, best bunch of nuns you'll ever meet!

not wearing a habit doesn't automatically mean that they are Anti-Catholic sisters (if you are pro-abortion and pro-womyn ordination- you are not Catholic)-
but I'm sorry, any sister or nun in 2013 who wears a habit is a real Catholic and would never want the Church to change with the times (these times....yuck)
another thought....the sisters used in these church-smear pieces should demand an apology for their images being used this way! It is confusing and scandalous
It's art not news. But seriously, what gay activist wouldn't enjoy lurid displays of queer behavior at a pride parade with a voice over saying how gays hate gay marriage and want no part of it. Or a PP executive showing graphic displays of abortion with a VoiceOver saying lets end this tragedy. We love such representations of media integrity and investigation.
Not only should they demand an apology, equal time on the Today Show presenting the Catholic side of the story would be nice too, wouldn't it?
