Andrew Sullivan on CNN: Jesus is Weeping for Joy" Over Court's Gay Marriage Decision

Wow. Andrew Sullivan said on CNN that Jesus is sooooooo pro-gay marriage that He's weeping for joy over the Supreme Court's decision. It's amazing to me how often Sullivan believes Jesus agrees with him.

He said, "I think Jesus is weeping for joy. I don’t think Jesus is on the other side of this. Although I don't wanna claim to know anything about that. But I do know that Jesus was always on the side of love.”

So many people have screamed recently that Jesus never said a word about gays so there's no way that us Catholic nutjobs could possibly know what Jesus thought about gays. But obviously Andrew Sullivan does.

I guess when Jesus said, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate.”

Jesus is weeping for joy since he still sees that we are still supporting him no matter what kind obstacle hit may us. We still remain strong.

This reminds me of the woman recently put to death in Texas for murdering her neighbor. As she lay on the gurney she ignored the victim's family and offered no apology to them. She instead looked to her own family and said, "You know where I'm going. I'm going to be with Jesus." No remorse, no contrite heart, but she's going to Heaven to be with Jesus.

Jesus is weeping, but not for joy. He's weeping because Andy has deluded himself into believing that Jesus came down to his level. If he doesn't repent, what a surprise he will get on Judgement Day!

Jesus is weeping, for sure, and not for joy. There is no change to our acceptance of those bearing the cross of SSA, but this ruling does appear to approve of the travesty of SSM, and of the gravely disordered practice of homosexual sex.

Nothing in the ruling makes sodomy less offensive or less perverted.

From Dr. John Pilch's "Healing in the New Testament": "In the group-oriented Mediterranean society [of 1st century Palestine], the term love describes attachment or loyalty and the behavior that goes along with it. The emotion of affection may or may not be included, but it is NOT the primary meaning of the word" and later in that same paragraph, he clarifies this as "ongoing loyalty" to the community (Pilch, p. 131).

To assume that "love one's neighbor as oneself" means what Andrew Sullivan and his ilk think it does is nothing short of modern Western ethnocentrism: they have no conception that Jesus' words might carry a far different meaning given their original context. Just something to ponder...

The vocation to the office of husband for a man and the vocation to the office of wife for a woman is a call from God Himself. A claim to vocation from God, without God, is a lie. Only man is called to serve God through vocation. Without a vocation, man comes to nought.
