HuffPo Calls for Sex Strike against Pro-Lifers

Vivian Norris, a Ph.D. type who writes at The Huffington Post, is calling on women to refuse sex to pro-lifers.

We've all been there, attracted to that man who does not mean well for us. We sure would not want our daughters dating or married to these kinds of guys who think they should decide what is best for women. How perfectly patriarchal, these Texas men trying to not hear what women want have shown themselves to be, but how incredibly out of touch with today's reality. Women of Texas, it's going to be a long hot summer -- make sure the men who do not deeply respect and support women feel it.

As a native Texan, and someone who has survived 100-plus-degree temperatures for many summers, I can tell you, this summer in Texas is surely going to be hotter than usual. Sultry, sweaty summers can be made much nicer when good old-fashioned sex is part of the picture. But women, take heed: Don't give in if your man, boyfriend, husband, toyboy is not voting for your best interests, your reproductive health -- do not sleep with that man! I don't care how cute or charming he is! I don't care if he is your husband of many years. Resist! Go swimming! Meditate!

Do not make him dinner, do not go fetch him a cold beer from the fridge, do not iron that shirt, hell, do not change that diaper... do not make his life a little nicer this summer if he does not "get it" and learn to respect women! Instead, volunteer some time for senators like Wendy Davis, go with a group of women to Austin and make your voices heard. Get on the computer and the social networks and organize.
Seems to me that if saying "no" to sex weren't a problem then there wouldn't be such a need for abortion. I mean, aren't we told constantly that you can't stop people from having sex? Isn't that exactly why we're always told that we have to fund contraception and abortion? But now we're being told that people can say no to sex but only when it comes to making sure contraception and abortion are accessible and free at any time. That's kind of circular logic, isn't it?

Guys who marry or date women like this deserve what they get.

You know, it is the outright presumption - in the face of virtually every poll ever taken, anywhere - that all women are 'pro-choice' and that only patriarchal sexist men have any problem at all with abortion that really galls me. Does she not know that women, on average, are more pro-life than men? The ignorance on display is astounding... but she does have a PhD, after all, which accounts for it.

How telling that part of the 'strike' includes not changing diapers. Let the baby sit in his own waste, that will tech men a lesson! After all, the baby won't suffer... Oh right she doesn't care about that does she?

Hey, Norris, I wouldn't date a guy who is pro-abortion. Because it tells me where his priorities are, and that he lacks integrity.

And btw all you unhappy feminists - I didn't know what it was like to be treated with true respect until I became a Catholic. The difference between how faithful Catholic men treated me and how those I had known before treated me made me realize that I was just being used before.

I agree with Father DL. Just as many women are pro life and pro family who aren't part of this "us versus them" mindset feminists have.

Aside from the reinforcing notion that feminism has been reduced to mere theatrics, I think a bit of abstinence might be a good thing for these people. Sounds like their mindset about sex and life are equally screwed up.

Pro-life men who respect the dignity of women wouldn't be having sex with these women anyway, they're at home having sex with their wives...after they do the dishes, change diapers, replace the car's oil and tuck the kids into bed. So I don't think anyone will notice this strike in practice.

I agree with all previous posters... plus, how many pro-lifers don't consider a pro-choice status to be a deal breaker? I would never have dated a man who would have wanted me to kill our baby if he knocked me up. I am married now and our babies aren't born yet (I'm due in December with twins), but my husband does things around the house because they need to be done and he loves me, not because I'm a manipulative not-nice-lady who won't do things "for him" because we disagree.

More to the point, this is her argument. Women don't love your men in any way, show them you will dominate, your will to power must consume all and no one shall deny you your right to be the source of life and death. According to this woman, intimacy is not given, it is endured. Children are a burden, and all acts of love, no matter how small, (bringing a beer), are capitulations to the system, and thus must be withheld. Wow.

Too true

If a pregnant woman is healthy, and the baby she is carrying is healthy, how is ripping that baby from the womb considered "reproductive health"?

Pro-choice means that it is wrong for men to be against abortion, but it is just fine for a the father of a child demand and pressure a woman into an abortion regardless of what the woman wants.

"Pro-choice" means statutory rape is fine as long as the act results in preganancy and abortion. Abortionists will do an abortion and deliver the victim right back into the hands of her abuser all in the name of "women's health."

"Pro-choice" means a man is a femininst if he pressures a woman into an abortion against her will, but anti-woman if he asks her to keep their child.

Sickening.

There is no logic in evil. Ever. It's not possible.

What us it with liberals? They all read Lysistrata and miss the whole "Ribald comedy" thing. And seriously, how many pro-abort women are REALLY dating pro-life men. In my experience, the pro-life guys usually have pro-life gals...and get married and have a house full of pro-life babies. (Babies are selfish like that. They're unaware they should be killed for the greater good, because as far as their concerned the greater good is "what the baby wants.")

And the pro-choice guys tend towards girls who are willing to sleep with them, because the whole POINT of being a pro-choice guy is so that you can screw around without getting stuck with child support.

So, sure.... refuse to sleep with pro-life men, you baby-haters. I'm sure they're weeping in their pillows. (Well, sometimes... because the croup is going around right now, and a lot of the pro-life guys are short on sleep.)

It is interesting to me that some people can condemn a priest for withholding the Eucharist from somebody that is openly anti-Catholic and accuse him of "using it as a weapon", then turn around and approve of something like this.

I still can't get over her saying not to change the poor baby's diaper......

They're like whores for the abortion cause - literally. A man is better off pumping iron than wading into that swamp.

What are the odds that these women are dating (let alone married to) pro-life men in the first place?

I'm sure there are a few out there. Those must be...interesting relationships.

Sorry, this made me laugh out loud!!! Seriously? I think that's a great suggestion! The less sex these kinds of women have, the lower the abortion rate will go, and they can more quickly extinct themselves! Heck, they won't even need contraception, and will be using (albeit 2 year old mentality of throwing a tantrum) NFP!!!! Great suggestion, Ms PhD, as well as an excellent way to defund Planned parenthood. Unfortunately, the Catholic Church kind of beat you on the subject of ways to not conceive if it's not right for you... ;)
