U.S. Marriage Rate Hits New Low

It's no wonder, Americans seem so willing to monkey with the definition of marriage.

Live Science reports:

The marriage rate in the United States is continuing its decades-long downward slide, with fewer American women than ever getting married and others waiting longer to wed, according to a new report.

The marriage rate has fluctuated in the past, with dips in the 1930s and 1960s, but it has been in steady decline since the 1970s.

Now, researchers report that the marriage rate has dropped to a new low of 31.1, meaning there are about 31 marriages in the U.S. for every 1,000 unmarried women, researchers found. In 1950, that number was 90.2. In 1920, it was 92.3.
On top of that, the divorce rate is still very high, with 15 percent of women either divorced or separated.

And it breaks down rather radically along racial lines as well. While 26 percent of black women are married today, 56 percent of Asian women are married.

The consequences of this apathy about marriage has so many consequences. It delays women giving birth to children, it increases the abortion rate, it has kids growing up without fathers, as well as so many other issues.

Marriage is in trouble folks. And that means so is our society. Because as goes marriage, so goes society.

Yes, but its up to the faithful to ensure the institution of holy matrimony by example. It's both joyful and sorrowful, but be must live our marriage vows. The rest of the world is not going to change. they are evolving into an economy that is served by us, not an economy built around the family unit. the political right and left, the greed of Wall Street and capitalism run, not for people and families but for the excesses of a few. The world is changing for the worse. We have one option, I'd say. Live it. Dal with the hardship. We don't need wars and oppression, we have enough out there condemning our way of life, while ripping our clues to shred, and all the while telling us were oppressing them. Tis must be why we're called the church militant.

Thank goodness we now have gay marriage in a few states. That will improve the statistics.
