Oh my. Are we seriously talking about cloning John Lennon? Yeah, because what the world needs is another self righteous musician. What, was Bono not promulgating enough self importance?
PRWeb has the story:
John Lennon's tooth is going under the microscope in a US lab with scientists considering ways to extract the genetic code from the fragile specimen owned by Canadian dentist-tooth collector Dr. Michael Zuk. "I am nervous and excited at the possibility that we will be able to fully sequence John Lennon's DNA, very soon I hope. With researchers working on ways to clone mammoths, the same technology certainly could make human cloning a reality," says Dr. Zuk.Hey, I wouldn't be surprised if this happened, would you? Man, why are some people always trying to resuscitate the 60's?
The dentist attracted attention from skeptics for purchasing the rotten molar for over $30,000 US at a UK auction in 2011...
Update: Interestingly, The American Conservative wrote a piece a while back about an interview Lennon gave shortly before his death where he renounced much of what he had earlier pushed. Some pretty amazing quotes. (I still don't want him cloned though.)
