Nuns Get out the Pom-Poms for Obamacare!

Yay! Obama Obama, he's our man! These nuns are putting away their Reiki kits and donning the pom-poms for the HHS Mandate. Not only that, they're criticizing those groups who are bravely standing against the mandate.

This group on their website links to Call to Action, FutureChurch, National Catholic Reporter, Women's Ordination Conference, and the Women-Church Convergence (whatever that is.)

Religion Dispatches reports:

The National Coalition of American Nuns has announced their support for women’s right to access contraceptives under the Affordable Care Act as the Supreme Court prepares to hear the historic Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood cases. While the plaintiffs in these cases are Mennonites and evangelical Christians, opposition to the contraceptive mandate was largely spearheaded by the Catholic bishops. Several key cases of Catholic non-profits, such as the Little Sisters of the Poor, are making their way through the lower courts and may well end up in the Supreme Court themselves.

“NCAN is dismayed that the Little Sisters of the Poor, the University of Notre Dame and other Catholic organizations are challenging the Affordable Care Act. Spurred on by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops these organizations are attempting to hold hostage all women by refusing insurance to them for contraceptives,” said the 2,000-member group in a statement.

“This has gotten out of hand,” Sister Donna Quinn, head of NCAN, told RD. “It isn’t ‘faith and freedom’ when reproductive autonomy isn’t extended by the Catholic Church to women. Now we have other Christian religions seeing what the bishops are doing and saying we will do likewise. It isn’t freedom when a woman can be held hostage by the owner of a business.”

When, oh when, will the Bishops do something about these groups?

99.9% anti Catholic and working as a cancer in the Church and yet a public excommunication would be bad how?

Only when God gives us a Pope with a backbone.

The Bishops are too busy censoring good Catholic men like Deacon Donnolly of PROTECT THE POPE.

Why can't people get it that contraceptives are not part of health-care. Pay for it yourselves, b*****es! And yes, maybe the nuns on the bus should be run over by the bishops on the bus.

It is our responsibility to pray for the bishops and priests every single day.

Fr Z has a little more info. Some of these undercover nuns are excommunicated, many are censored.

NCAN has been non-Catholic from the get go and the membership is tiny.

Patrick Archbold said...

Neither NCAN nor nuns gathered in that coalition
are Roman Catholic. Unfortunately, they excluded themselves from the
Church by standing in opposition to the teaching of the Church.

Of course we must pray for them and I do, constantly!

Celibate Catholics do not need or use contraception. Married couples who abstain for relative short periods of time do not need contraception. The only people who "need" contraception are people who are violating the call to virginity and the laws of chastity and virtue. All people have reproductive freedom. Only some want to impose their version on everybody. I did not know that Satan had nuns in his employ.

Those darned public-school teachers are at it again.

Purists would say pompons, but I get your drift. We've all been held hostage by these terribly misguided women...
