Lindsey Graham's Joke Being Treated as Serious Scandal

This is ridiculous. This is a clear case of a desperate attempt by the press to misconstrue a joke by a Republican into softening the electoral disaster to their poor dear Democrats.

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham made a joke at a meeting of the Hibernian Society, the Irish Catholic club, a few weeks ago. He said, “I’m trying to help you with your tax status,” Graham said. “I’m sorry the government’s so f—ed up. If I get to be president, white men in male-only clubs are going to do great in my presidency.”

Anyone with even a slender tether to reality understands it's actually a joke on the Hibernians and politicians promising anything.

Graham also tossed in a joke about Baptists, saying “they’re the ones who drink and don’t admit it.” Once again, clearly making fun of the Hibernians who seem a bit proud of their drinking.

When asked by CNN about the quotes, Graham said the Hibernian Society encourages speakers “to be earthy, to make fun of yourself, to make fun of them. Then you say something serious and sit down. And if you talk over 20 minutes, they throw something at you.”

Now, clearly these were jokes but the media is running this like he donned a white hood.

MSNBC headline: Lindsey Graham promises results for white men

TPM: Lindsey Graham: White Men Will 'Do Great' Under My Presidency

The Week: Sen. Lindsey Graham: 'White men who are in all-male clubs are going to do great in my presidency'

I'm no fan on Graham but I'm even less a far of the media who is clearly just looking to damage Republicans right now. They're not interested in the facts here, they're only intent is to twist any words they can to hurt the GOP. All the news that's fit to twist.
