Sola Scriptura Turns Into Sola WhatFeelsRighttoMe

Former president Jimmy Carter recently said that he believes Jesus approves of gay marriage. He quickly clarified that he didn't have any verse or scripture to back him up but yeah, he was pretty sure that Jesus approves.

Why does he think this? Because Jimmy Carter believes he's a good person and he also believes that gay marriage is good so therefore he believes as a corollary that God, who is all good, must be very much like Jimmy Carter who is, as stated previously, good.

I'd assume this kind of thinking has occurred throughout time but I wonder if it's especially prevalent in such a narcissistic age as ours.
