You've got to love that scientists are wasting their time on this. I'm sure these "scientists" will be heralded as the Jonas Salks of atheism because they can inoculate the population from that eeeeeeevil Christianity. Thank goodness, we're all saved.
A UCLA scientist is claiming that he's performed a study wherein he can stop people believing in God and change their view on immigration using magnets on your brain.
The Daily Express reports:
Using a technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), researchers safely shut down certain groups of neurones in the brains of volunteers.OK. How long until this "procedure" becomes involuntary?
TMS, which is used to treat depression, involves placing a large electromagnetic coil against the scalp which creates electric currents that stimulate nerve cells in the region of the brain involved in mood control.
Researchers found the technique radically altered religious perceptions and prejudice.
Belief in God was reduced almost by a third, while participants became 28.5 per cent less bothered by immigration numbers...
Volunteers were asked to rate their belief in God, heaven, the devil, and hell after undergoing pre-screening to ensure that they held religious convictions.
Dr Izuma said: "We decided to remind people of death because previous research has shown that people turn to religion for comfort in the face of death.
"As expected, we found that when we experimentally turned down the posterior medial frontal cortex, people were less inclined to reach for comforting religious ideas despite having been reminded of death."
And here's a question, if you can use these magnets to remove belief in God, can you use these magnets to entice belief in God? Muhahahaha. Can you imagine that power in the hands of the Vatican???!!!! All this time we've been evangelizing when we could just apply magnets to the heads of non-believers!
It'll be awesome. Christians will be attempting to apply magnets to the heads of atheists and atheists will be trying to do the same. It'll be like a worldwide game of tag. Maybe we should actually start wearing tinfoil hats. It might mess up the magnets.
