Britain Throws Up Its Hands Over Transgender Pension Case

OK. This one calls for a little background as it gets a little complicated. But it's worth it.

Great Britain's Supreme Court pretty much threw up their hands and said they don't know what to do about this transgender pension case so they're actually referring the case to the Court of Justice of the EU. (I thought they were pulling out of that sinking ship but that's not important here.)

The case is "MB v. Secretary of State for Work and Pensions." So in Britain, women can get their retirement pension at an earlier age than men. You can see where this is going, right? So there's a dude who says he's a woman and he wants to receive his pension now. He qualifies if he's a woman but not if he's a man.

But he's also married to a woman. I'm unclear how that worked. I mean, think about it. This lady is married to a bloke (That's British for dude) and then one day her husband declares he's a girl. Now, she decides to stay with him so she instantly becomes a lesbian! (But I thought they were born that way!?)

But the way the rule works to get the pension is that the gender switching person must be unmarried. Not sure why that's a thing but it is.

So Britain has no idea what to do. Something tells me they'll start writing checks to this dude right quick. And then he's going to sue for damages.

Oh, the tangled web we weave.
