Yeah, I know many folks are kind of whatever about the Obamacare Repeal and Replace than doesn't actually repeal it but replaces it with Obamacare Lite, but the really big news for me is that within the bill was the defunding of Planned Parenthood.
The media is so up in arms about the repeal of Obamacare that they're not focused yet on the fact that it redirects Planned Parenthood's funding to other women's health clinics.
Here's the release from the SBA List, one of the most effective pro-life organizations in the country.
By a vote of 217 to 213, today the U.S. House of Representatives passed a health care repeal bill that includes two critical pro-life provisions.Let's hope and pray the Senate keeps this momentum rolling and that Donald Trump signs it.
SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser released the following statement:
“As the Vice President said last night at our annual gala, the legislation passed by the House today does two important things. First, the legislation stops the Obamacare abortion expansion by preventing taxpayer funding of health care plans that cover abortion on-demand. Second, the bill redirects taxpayer dollars away from Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business, to health care centers that provide comprehensive primary and preventative care to women and girls,” said SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser. “We urge the Senate to keep these non-negotiable provisions and quickly advance this bill to the President’s desk.”
Vice President Mike Pence announced today’s vote in his speech at Susan B. Anthony List’s annual gala last night and noted the bill’s pro-life provisions saying:
“Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, Congress is going to vote to repeal and replace Obamacare. And when they vote to repeal and replace Obamacare, we will finally defund Planned Parenthood…The day Obamacare passed -- it was a day of disappointment for the sanctity of life. But hope is finally shining through. The bill before the Congress actually eliminates Obamacare’s abortion expansion and it defunds Planned Parenthood, and keeps the President’s promise to devote those resources to healthcare providers that help women without promoting abortion.”The proposal to redirect taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood would result in a $422 million increase in federal funding for community health care centers, which enjoy strong bipartisan support, avoid provision or promotion of abortion, and now serve nearly 24.3 million people (and climbing) in medically underserved communities across the United States.
Community health centers outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities by at least 20 to one and offer a full range of primary health care, unlike Planned Parenthood.
The fight is on. Planned Parenthood's Cecile Richards is already calling it "the fight of our lives."
Uhm. Mz. Richards, we are fighting for lives. We don't take cash or credit for the destruction of others. That's only you.
