Pope Francis has announced that he will visit The Shroud of Turin, which is scheduled to go back on public display next year. I would truly love to view the Shroud and have read quite a bit about it.
The Shroud of Turin blog reports that the Pope said:
I’m pleased to announce that, God willing, I will go on a pilgrimage to Turin on June 21 to venerate the Holy Shroud and honour Saint John Bosco on the 200th anniversary of his birth.
This is big news and should have a lot of folks paying attention to the Shroud again.
I’m still afraid so many people believe the Shroud was “proved” as inauthentic from the carbon dating done decades ago. The original findings were, of course, widely reported but the doubts about them have been only whispered about.
