The Conservative Case for Smacking Comedians Upside the Head?
Man, comedians have it tough. If they say something against the cultural norms they can be cancelled. And if they say something completely inane, they can be smacked upside the head by Will Smith.
So, Chris Rock compared Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith to GI Jane because she’s bald and ripped. It’s not even really a joke. Will Smith laughed at first but his wife didn’t so he got up and smacked Chris Rock. A pretty good swat too.
So now, we’ve got conservatives making the case for physically abusing comedians.
Nick, I don’t know you so forgive me, but are you married? Insulting someone’s wife to their face isn’t a joke. The men who founded this country had duels over such things. https://t.co/2RgnmCoBK9

I’m making the conservative case for putting down a dude who would dare put down my wife to my face, otherwise known as the traditional masculinity we used to embrace. Before we sat our hands in silence as Liar Thomas stole from our daughters. But hey, at least we blog about it. https://t.co/EhKLhUygCE

Now, a couple of things here. Will Smith yelling, “Keep my wife’s name out of your mouth” is a little odd considering his wife has a reality show.
It wasn’t really an insult. At least one that I understand.
I do believe that men shouldn’t be afraid to throw a punch now and again if it rises to the occasion. But it seems to me that this did not.
And then Will Smith won the Oscar and proceeded to tearfully explain how difficult it was to be a celebrity because people can be mean to celebrities. What?! This is not masculinity.
If you’re looking to make the case for masculinity, this isn’t it. This is a sad excuse for it.
