I dated a progressive once. She's the editor of the Law review at GWU. When we talked about abortion, she immediately made the rule that she won't discuss when life begins period. So, to confirm your point about how these people consciously choose to ignore facts and the truth and force the discussion to their perception of reality. How can smart people deceive themselves that way?

Yikes! I hadn't heard of that. Why on earth would a Eucharistic Ministe--or ANY CATHOLIC, particularly at Mass--dress up as the devil?!? Seriously?! Dressing up as the devil to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ?! Was that supposed to be funny? Did ANYONE think that was funny? That kinda eclipsed the "Fr. Barney" visual, though that's certainly bad enough. For crying out loud . . . !!!

What Larry was referring to is a case in a (California, I believe) parish in which the celebrant dressed up as Barney for the final recession, the Eucharistic Minister was dressed as the devil, and other participants were literally in costumes and other sacriligious outfits. If you can stomach it, look it up on Youtube. It isn't pretty.

Great article, Larry, but I noticed the mention of "Halloween Mass" as an abuse, and I'm wondering why that was included, since I know of two very faithful parishes that offer Mass on Halloween as reparation for the sins committed against the Blessed Sacrament on that day (particularly, I think, Satanic Masses). Do some parishes offer Halloween Masses with an entirely different attitude than that of reparation? I guess it wouldn't surprise me, but I hope it isn't a commonplace thing.

That priest should have brought his buckets of rainwater (with a comparable leak) to the committee meeting and declared that there was "no credible evidence" that he was getting their cozy chambers wet or papers soggy.
