I'm Proud To Be An Anglican

With apologies to Lee Greenwood, Anglicans, and people of good will...

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I believed all my life
And I had to pick another faith
That wouldn't crimp my style of life
I'd thank my lucky stars for a church in such decay
Cause the Pope poached all those orthodox
And he took them all away.

Chorus: And I'm proud to be an Anglican
Where at least I'm dogma free.
I like my priests to be tye-dyed
And gays - that's right for me.
And I gladly stand up next to you
And defend her still today.
The Pope will never give me command
God bless the middle way!

We ordained a bunch of women
but the TAC did not agree
Then we added gay bishops
And ignored every plea
From Canterbury to New Hampshire
We will believe our own way
What Jesus said will be taken a la carte
And it's time we stand and say

Chorus: And I'm proud to be an Anglican
Where at least I'm dogma free.
I like my priests to be tye-dyed
And gays - that's right for me.
And I gladly stand up next to you
And defend her still today.
The Pope will never give me command
God bless the middle way!

  5. Did anyone here see Former Episcopal Bishop "Spong Bob"'s take on the situation? File it under "who the (blank) cares?"

  6. Wow! Isn't it great the way Christians condemn each other? I'm sure this type of thing is what Jesus had in mind. Way to go! You make Catholics look kind, sympathetic and caring.

  7. Anonymous, have you actually read the bible? I'm doubting it, since the epistles and letters have a great deal of Christians condemning errant and wayward groups calling themselves Christians. So, time to take the foot out of the mouth and walk away.

  8. Oh yeah! Way to go Early Riser! Give it to those Anglicans and their loser sympathizers! Let's lay on some good ole Catholic Hate! There's nothing like it. Nobody hates the way Catholics do, not even Islamic fundamentalists. Give us a list of scripture passages about how to condemn and hate. Get Ray Burke on the line; he'll tell us how. Hee Haw!!!

  9. Early Riser and all my friends at CMR:
Uncle Screwtape here. Keep up the good work. Our plans to further divide the Christians are working out perfectly. You've all done a great job at sowing discord among the Catholics. They are about to succumb to our efforts. Get them to keep making fun of their "sister church" the Anglicans. I'll be in touch. Uncle S.

  10. Screwtape, "sister church"? More like a red headed stepson.

  11. Oh puke. Someone has real dillusions of grandeur believing they are spokesmen of Satan. You'd think they would have other role models to consider. But I guess if Our Lord had to battle demons, so do we lowly folk here on the internet.

Anonymous coward, the only hate here is coming from you. I don't see anyone here saying they hate Anglicans. I sure don't. I hate heresy and lies in all their forms, including deception. So, when you and "screwtape" can grow a pair and argue your points (assuming you have them) like reasonable people without hiding behind deceptive monakers then we'll talk.

  12. Early Riser -

Whopee! Way to go! Vitriol and hypocrisy (your name is really Early Riser? Or is that a deceptive moniker?)! And crudeness. How Christian! I'm sure your Lord is proud. Keep up the good work of division. Uncle S

  13. Anonymous and Early Riser: You forgot: Galileo. Crusades. Inquizition. I just wanted to save you the trouble, in the name of Christian charity.

  14. Tee hee.

Great work, guys. I'm an Anglican -- member of TEC too -- and you're dead on right.

You've also obviously struck a nerve with one or two other lib Episcopalians -- you can tell by the shrieking harridan outrage -- so keep up the good work.
