  1. I think you have this wrong. It reminds me of the Burning Bush, the presence of God revealed to Moses in Exodus 3:2 "There an angel of the Lord appeared to him in fire flaming out of a bush.

  3. Pentecost perhaps?

  4. That looks so not like fire. More like evil kelp.

  5. It's still not as bad as the pink they insist is "rose" on Gaudete Sunday. It's pink, dudes!

  6. @ Blackrep
"Evil kelp" - hilarious! Made my day.

  7. It's ugly, but is it as ugly as the stark table instead of an altar? Once the altar is gone, all bets are off, in my book.

  8. Yes yes. Evil kelp wins the award. What else can be said after that?

  9. Out of everything wrong with this set up, I think the part the most blows my mind is they actually have a matching chalice veil! I'm all for bringing the veils back (actually donated a set to my children's school), but wow!

  10. I kind of like it-- but I'm very fond of the symbolism of fire, myself. Probably would've been improved with a Sacred Heart, or something Holy Spirit-ish.

    Doesn't look very Churchy, though.

  11. Pat, though I don't particularly care for the design I think you have this one wrong on where *one* might be headed. Fire is a purifier and there are many passages in the Bible linking God with fire.

    A quick search of passages:

"By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night."
    Exodus 13:21

“The Lord your God is a consuming fire” (Deut 4:24).

Jesus baptizes with fire (Mt 3:11-12, Lk 3:16-17). John the Baptist said, “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
