Worst Timing of a Movie...Evah!

Right now, neighborhood watches are in the culutral crosshairs with the killing of Trayvon Martin. Let's face it, the response from every angle has been a bit of a mess, from the media, to the Black Panthers, to those defending Zimmerman without question. It's a powder keg ready to explode.

And into that mix comes the worst timed movie release I've ever seen. Neighborhood Watch stars Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, and Jonah Hill. Do the words "too soon" mean anything?

  1. Yikes.

It doesn't look like a film that was going to burn up the box office anyway.

If I was working for the studio, I'd put off the release for 6 more months.

Of course, there are probably a LOT of things that would get done differently if I was running one of the studios...

  2. It's Moss!

  3. I'm going to go see it, as a gestre of support for George!

  4. A hijacked plane played a prominent role in Dave Barry's book called "Big Trouble." The movie was to be released shortly after 9/11/2001...but it was delayed a few months.

  5. There are other examples of ill-timed movies. "Space Camp" came out 5 months after the Challenger disaster, and "The Manhattan Project" came out a couple of months after Chernobyl.

  6. I'll bet the release of the remake of the Manchurian Candidate was "postponed" in the fall of 2008. If we are lucky enough to have the DNC's vote fraud apparatus malfunction this November, then it could be released for the Christmas movie season.
