Abp. Chaput to Celebrate Mass for Terri Schiavo, Palin Heads Fundraiser

Archbishop Charles Chaput Archbishop of the Diocese of Philadelphia, will celebrate "The National Memorial Mass for Terri's Day" for Terri Schiavo at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on Friday at 5 p.m.

Afterward, Sarah Palin will speak at a fundraising dinner at the Philadelphia Marriott.

On March 31, 2005, Terri Schiavo died as a result of Florida probate judge George W. Greer’s ruling that she could be deprived of food and water.

The International Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Terri Schindler Schiavo ("Terri's Day") was established in 2007 and is observed each year on or around March 31st, the date of Terri's death.

The non-profit organization foster education, prayer, and activism regarding discrimination against the cognitively disabled, and advocacy for people in situations similar to what Terri and her family faced.

"We are delighted to have His Excellency, Archbishop Chaput, as the main celebrant for Terri's Memorial Mass and Governor Palin as the keynote speaker at our first Award Gala. Our intention is to raise the needed awareness of this widely misunderstood issue so that the general public recognizes how our medically vulnerable remain in the cross-hairs of an anti-life mentality growing in our nation," noted Bobby Schindler, Terri's brother and Executive Director of the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network in a press release.

You can go to Terri's Life & Hope Network's website to learn more about Terri's Memorial Mass or purchase tickets for the Gala with Sarah Palin.

  1. Mrs Schiavo was "sentenced" to death, a cruel, painful, torturous death by denying this innocent, defenceless, disabled woman even water. The Court positively, tyranically prohibited (with enforcement) the woman's family and friends from continuing to care for her, preventing anyone from giving her the basic life-sustaining water and nutrition all human beings need to live. There are not words to adequately describe the evil deliberately, cold-bloodedly done to this innocent and defenceless woman; the evil of forcibly preventing a family from feeding and giving water to their child. Satan himself presided over the Court on that day. The Court administered extreme injustice on that black day. Dear Lord, may this unjust, unconstitutional, invalid ruling be soon formally overturned and voided.
