Shocking Vid: College Professor Arrested for Freaking Out at Pro-Life Display
A University of Buffalo (SUNY) professor was arrested for screaming obscenities at an administration approved graphic pro-life display. While cursing profusely, she accused the pro-lifers of being "profane."
The video below shows the arrest along with the professor cursing and finally yelling out to surrounding students to tell her 1 p.m. class that she wouldn't be able to teach that day because she was being taken away in handcuffs.
I contacted the media relations department at UB and they confirmed the arrest. John DellaContrada, Assistant Vice President for Media Relations at UB, told CMR that:
Mind you, Professor Curry curses an awful lot while accusing the pro-life display of being profane. (The student who made the original video pulled it but someone else cleverly captured it so here it is):
This is not the first battle over abortion on the SUNY Buffalo campus. In 2011, a pro-life display was reportedly vandalized. In a separate incident, pro-lifers were reportedly pelted with feces by people enraged by the pro-life message.

Laura Curry was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. She is an adjunct instructor of media study. She is entitled to due process under the law.I asked whether there would be any ramifications over the incident but I didn't receive an answer on that.
This was a display by a student club, the UB Students for Life. Student organizations are allowed to reserve space on campus for purposes of free expression.
The University at Buffalo strives to create an environment in which diverse opinions can be expressed and heard. As a public university, it is a fundamental value of UB that all members of the campus community and their invited guests have a right to peacefully express their views and opinions, regardless of whether others may disagree with those expressions. This includes the right of protesters to oppose the views or opinions of others, but not in such a way as to limit or prevent the speaker's freedom of expression or interfere with university operations.

It's not the fact that's profane. It's its display.
ReplyDeleteHave to say, I really enjoyed the moment they slapped the cuffs on her. Played it like three times. Made my day.
ReplyDeleteThe woman asked what was wrong with swearing. She is a teacher and she does not know? Swearing is taking God's name in vain. Know that taking God's name must have a valid serious and just cause, like swearing to tell the whole truth in a court of law. The teacher was using God's name in vain to prevent other persons from exercising their free expression, a tyrannical use. I hope they throw the book at her for "nothing but the truth, so help me God." Only the TRUTH has free expression.
ReplyDeleteDid you consider that she may have had this reaction because she is post-abortive? Usually people have a strong reaction to things that deeply affect them. It would be charitable to pray for her and maybe not enjoy her arrest so much.
ReplyDeleteRiopel is likely right -will pray
ReplyDeleteThe woman clearly needs help. At best, she is incapable of reasoned discussion, but in fact, her comprehension of free speech is desperately one-sided.
ReplyDelete"adjunct instructor of media study" .NE. "professor"
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with her, however: if the image was of an aborted fetus, it is indeed profane and precisely why there is no "right" to abortion. Abortion supporters always want abortion language sanitized to hide from its ugly truth.
camera work sucks. Maybe photographer is against people's heads.
ReplyDeleteHer extreme reaction can mean that she is herself post abortive and the shame and guilt can cause one to react in such a way. I so respect the feminist Naomi Wolf who stands by this: 'if the pro life movement is right about abortion being a morally wrong thing then the evidence of what they say must be viewed'. So for those that support and celebrate abortion, why can't they stand that the evidence of what it actually is be shown and let everyone be fully informed of the graphic nature of it. Otherwise what do they have to hide?
ReplyDeleteShe is an instructor and an adjunct at that. She is not a SUNY professor. Great video though!
ReplyDeleteThis is the usual response to anyone standing up for the right to life of innocent, helpless babies - it is demonic.
ReplyDeleteLaura Curry is just another example of the marxist communists who have taken over our universities and are attempting to educate our children. I find it ironic that she would publicly protest the images of the results of the very practice she condones and supports. To Anonymous who agreed that the images were profane, I would ask him/her if they support the censorship of all the photos of the Holocaust victims? You can't have it both ways..
ReplyDeleteYes, why are the pro-abortionists always so mad about showing people what it is they promote so aggressively? "I'm all for butchering babies - but it is a terrible crime to show the world photographs of those butchered babies, and those who show such pictures should be locked up."
DeleteIt's about inflicting trauma on women and men suffering from abortion after effects...PTSD in a way. Is it necessary and loving to indiscriminately show graphic pictures with no regard for the emotions of those who happen to walk by? Child rape is also horrific or even genital mutilation that happens in some countries but is it helping the cause to show pictures of these crimes anywhere to anyone? Being pro-life also means that we have a regard for all people and we don't want to cause harm to any person...even those who have had abortions in the past and maybe carry a tremendous amount of guilt and shame. Pictures serve a purpose but just not every place and all the time...
ReplyDeleteThere are not laws providing for child rape or female genital mutilation in the US. Or "clinics" carrying out child rapes or FGM in every part of the US. It is a disservice and dishonour to those children killed by "legal abortion" to hide the truth of the massacre. Americans will not stop abortion until they see abortion. Ditto for all peoples. The promoters of the abortion holocaust rely on silence and cover-up of the truth to continue to spread their evil work. Lives and souls are saved by the truth of abortion as conveyed in photographs of the babies killed by it.
DeleteWhat was she looking at that that caused her anger? It didn't sound like a photo of an aborted infant. She said something about someone hung in the 1940s. Was this display more then just about abortion?
ReplyDeleteAs Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life says something to this effect: People in our country are not going to work to change abortion laws until they see abortion. It's easy for people to think of unborn children as "blobs of tissue"..."this is no big deal; we'll just suck these little cells out of you; you won't even feel it." Lie upon lie is told and people believe the lies. Photos don't lie. It is indeed unfortunate that some people get hurt and offended when they see these images, but we are not merely talking "tissue" here--these are children, created in the image and likeness of God that have been killed in their mothers' wombs. If Ms. Curry--or anyone else--can't handle the truth, that is sad and unfortunate. But those photos expose the truth and countless women have seen those photos and said, "I wish someone had shown me these before I had my abortion."
ReplyDeleteThe Left reserves the right to break a few eggs as necessary.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't she understand that the degrading meaning of her favorite word is the reason these children existed and were taken out of existance? How can you use this adjective/noun/verb in every sentence and not expect others to wonder if you understand the results of what the word means. She was looking at the results. Glad she was taken into custody for being so vulgar.
ReplyDeleteI'm not into graphic displays, but its much like war in that respect...if you want to support something, you should really know what you are getting yourself or others into. Sending us citizens half way across the world and returning dead, maimed and/or emotionally damaged isn't heroic it's sick and twisted. I feel bad for soldiers the way I do women who are guilted by feminists into aborting their child. Is others manipulating others and suppressing the truth is a huge actor in convincing someone of lies. Also, I thought the lady and her adorable little 'look at me, I'm a feminist proving something' boots and outfit were everything the wannabe protester needs. Another laugher wa the whole first amendment supports my speech but not theirs attitude that has become so popular amongst the leftists.
ReplyDeleteshows the ultimate hypocrisy in most liberals - screaming for their protection under the first amendment while trying to stifle other speech under the same.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 4:38 PM said: "To Anonymous who agreed that the images were profane, I would ask him/her if they support the censorship of all the photos of the Holocaust victims?"
ReplyDeleteYou misconstrue my point entirely. Please try reading. If an image of an aborted baby is not a profane one (profane: showing contempt or irreverence to God - the author of life) what is? This does not imply, however, that the image should not be shown for the purpose of revealing its reality. To the contrary, if you read my 3:53 post, you would find that its very profane nature screams out to any well-formed conscience that abortion is an evil against both natural and divine law.
So, yes, Ms. Curry, the image is profane, disturbing, sickening, disgusting and revolting to any man or woman of conscience. So how much more so the reality that is abortion. Look at the evil you support behind your political jargon.
Clearly another derange campus Lesbian.
ReplyDeleteJust as a note, it's the University AT Buffalo, not "of"...
ReplyDeleteSo many of you are so ignorant. This is not even half the story. It fails to mention that the prolife students were throwing things and screaming hateful comments at students when they wouldn't take their fliers. This didn't happen to one student, it happened to hundreds. They are the ones who should have been arrested but the UB police would not do anything about nor would the university. This is part of the reason the instructor was so angry. The instructor was standing up for the students rights.
ReplyDeleteYawn! Oh, pardon me, I must have fallen asleep reading your post. Interesting assertion. Great thing is the video you've taken in proof of your assertion. You do have video, right? Oh my, I'm hearing crickets now.
DeleteI wish they had tasered her.
ReplyDelete14.photobucket.com/albums/a332/moiv/GAP_Choices.jpg These are examples of the images she is talking about that were put up on display in front of this building. I go to this school, and this building is a place where students normally go and get their food for the day. It was disgusting to go and see people being hung, tortured, death, and just bloody images on giant signs in front of a building where I just want peace and a break from the day. This is why she was so angry. We are open to every kind of opinion out there, but to compare people who are for abortion to Hitler, genocide, racism, hate, etc, and boasting images like this are NOT the way to do things.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever taken note of how the left exploits tragedies to gain advantage? They wrote the book on it. If mine eye offends me, pluck it out, change the channel, or just don't look at the display. The display is not the offense, the left's sacrament of abortion was criticized by analogy to other heinous aspects of history. We're talking in excess of 45,000,000 infants aborted. Read Peter Singer's views on Post-birth abortions, truly chilling. Read Margaret Sanger's aspirations for genocide. The left conceals their depravity with cleverly selected words. Pro-choice, not pro-death (of the infant), but adamantly refuses to use pro-life when discussing their opponents lest they be upstaged by a more positive word. I thank God I'm not a liberal. (To cut you to the chase, I guess a liberal response would be that they too thank God I'm not a liberal, ha, ha, ha).
DeleteI am outraged by many of your comments. As an employee on the UB campus, I witnessed this protest. The images displayed by the pro life supporters were indeed profane and offensive. Everyone has the right to express their opinion, and if you think abortion is equivalent to genocide, fine, but don't persecute someone for expressing their opinion that your view is BS. Grow up and accept that people have differing views. And "taking the Lord's name in vain" is a sin, not breaking the law.
ReplyDeleteIt looks to me that she wanted to be arrested. Her actions were calm. She just kept repeating the profanity to the cops and she was dressed all in black with a black wristband. Well she made a name for herself. Are the pictures any more profane than dead bodies of the holocaust piled up or the hacked and beaten bodies of persecuted Christians.
ReplyDeleteI went to grad school there. It's always been a bastion of post-structuralist deconstructionism and Marxism. Michel Foucault taught there for Pete's sake. It was a great school with some supremely talented professors (who personally are good people) but it is what it is. And the asshole liberals yell the loudest.
ReplyDeleteAnd all the typical leftists from there are out and about here railing on the pro-lifers as per usual.
Abortion will go back to being outlawed in my lifetime. I am positive. God bless those pro-life kids.
ALL liberals and progressives think they are smarter and more educated than everyone else. they look down their noses and scoff at anyone who had a differing opinion than their own. YET, they say WE are "intolerant"! I hope she enjoys her stay in jail.
ReplyDeleteLet's rip the photos of concentration camps out of textbooks too, then, lest we make a Nazi cry. They must have PTSD too, right? God forbid someone has their peaceful little campus hot lunch spoiled by the gruesome consequences of how he thinks, desires, acts or votes.
ReplyDeleteI would agree with those that recommend praying for her. It's a deep seeded, despotic spirit which inhabits some of these folks even on a minor level. Reaction is like someone possessed reacting to holy water.
ReplyDeleteAsk the question? If YOU did NOT abort the baby what would happen?
ReplyDeleteThe answer: It would be born. It is a living human and you have no right to kill it, it has committed no crime.
So this "professor" thinks that the First
ReplyDeleteAmendment ONLY applies to her and to those who agree with her? Typical Leftist world view! Did she ever stop to think that if she and those like her, were empowered to shut down free speech for those with whom they disagreed, that the day might come when HER right to free speech might be infringed upon?
I wonder how many abortions the teacher had????
ReplyDeleteFeeling guilty?
Did the camera person purposefully aim the camera so as to prevent anyone's identity from being revealed?? Wtf?
ReplyDeleteFunny that people don't know the difference between profane, vulgar, and blaspheme. Profane is low coarse language which is what the teacher was speaking. We call that barnyard language. The F word also has a connotation of aggressive speech in our language. Vulgar which used to mean non-Latin, is again coarse barnyard language. Neither are blaspheme. Blaspheme is reserved for disrespectful speech to or about God. So this "Lady" (term used loosely) was guilty of disorderly conduct in that she was trying to provoke others to agression. Too bad we couldn't see the display. I assume it was also trying to provoke others, but provoke them to thought, rather than violence. Hat tip to the cops.
ReplyDeleteSince abortion is an abomination to god and humanity, it only stands to reason that pictoral depictions of it would be considered profane.
ReplyDeleteWhy is she allowed to be a professor? Seems to me that her demeanor should disqualify her for the job. I hope she comes to her senses but most educators are nothing but educated fools.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see the school has a prolife student group.
ReplyDeleteSomeone feels guilty...
ReplyDeleteSo the liberal bitch is for abortion, but the picture of one offends her? How psychotic. Also being a professor she should understand that a POLITICAL speech is protect. F!@!#!ing in public just for the sake of F...ing is not.
ReplyDeleteI would NOT give this university any of my money if they keep idiots like this on faculty. You better of going to a library and read a book on your own, as the character from "Good Will Hunting" said.
Clone and be done with it!
ReplyDeleteShe is correct that she has a constitutional right to free speech. She does not, however, have a constitutional right to work for the University. That is a privilege she should be denied in the future.
ReplyDelete" Abortion supporters always want abortion language sanitized to hide from its ugly truth."
ReplyDeleteTruth like abortion actually being de-facto Human Sacrifice? (you pick the deity)
First off, I'm not a liberal. But I find the pictures used by the students to be offensive and unnecessary. Have we become so desensitized that pictures of atrocities have become advertisements for an opinion? I find that repulsive, and would have been upset as well. Find a christian way to get the point across. Stop raising the stakes in this war, rely on the truth and God's will. Leave the profane to the other side.
ReplyDeleteYou religious pro life people are ducking stupid. Too bad they didn't break your egg.
ReplyDeleteGo adjunct prof!
ReplyDeleteShe's a disgrace herself. I don't feel sorry for her at all. She's part of the vicious left that's inflicting so much pain on the rest of us, the decent, law abiding right wingers. For them, a dead aborted baby is profane, not he action they adore and fight for. She will be back out and continue her life as a parasite out to destroy our Constitution and our system of laws. Screw her.
ReplyDeleteOhhh! She so, so brave! She such a hero! He be shrill and screechy but don't hear, care, cry or screech on any of the tiny humans torn to pieces by her and her ilk every day.
ReplyDeleteShe believe so much in abortion - why she don't abort hersef?
We need to pray for her.
ReplyDeleteTo The Riopel Family ~ child rape and genital mutations aren't voluntary choices. BIG difference.
ReplyDeleteI'm post abortion and it was pictures like that that brought me to repentance. They brought my post abortive mom to anger. It depends on the condition of the individual's heart. But the truth has to be told, or in this case shown, so people will wake up and think twice about their choices and the consequences of them.
Riopel Family is indeed compassionate and Christ-like to think of the proff's spiritual health, especially since we all know how easy it is to fall to Satan's temptations. Guilt is a powerful motivator, and Christ demands we offer compassion. We must also keep reiterating that the words in the Christian language of love associated with abortion are "murder" and "forgiveness." If God forgave us for murdering Him (putting to Him death) on the cross, how can we do any less and call ourselves Christ-followers if we do not also publicly offer abortion survivors the same? This message of forgiveness (along with appropriately-trained, experienced and compassionate counseling) needs to be displayed at every pro-birth event, wether or not graphic displays are included.
ReplyDeletei'll betcha that beotch never gets laid.....
ReplyDeleteJust another loudmouthed liberal skank making a fool of herself in public. Move along folks.
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahahahahahaha! I'm glad she isn't a constitutional law professor.
ReplyDeleteIf she's that upset about the image, maybe you should show us what it was.....I'm all for pro-life, but I'd rather see both sides of the picture too.
ReplyDeleteShe is wrong but I don't see why they arrested her. I think letting her rant actually exposes the un-balanced nature of abortion advocates.
ReplyDeleteI wish one of the news articles would show images of the display that has her so upset. I think it would really add to the story.
ReplyDeleteThis is an "educator"? How can anyone question our steep decline in the world's educational standings?
ReplyDeleteThis is a classic example of the appropriate time and place for promoting a Pro-Life, college campus message. For lack of a better phrase "hooking-up" is and has always been a major recreation on college campuses. At school age, kids consider themselves bullet-proof and think that consequences don't apply to them. As we all know, conceiving a child unintentionally is a possible byproduct of the act. Abortion is promoted as a no-muss, no-fuss solution to the unwanted pregnancy. I know this, I was bullet-proof once, and I went along with and aborted one of my children when I was in school. The Pro-Life message may not reduce the hooking-up activities but it could save a life when the parents are faced with the ugly truth of the abortion act. Clearly the teacher was having a personal issue about being confronted with the truth.
ReplyDeletegreat to see the big mouth shut down and hauled away.
ReplyDeleteto the camera people learn how to use your camera.we missed seeing this mean face teacher of our kids we need to see the face, not shoulder down.
..One question never ask is "How do we know the Baby who would of grown up, gone to school, became a scientist and stumbled onto a cure for cancer has not already been aborted (murdered) ?"
ReplyDeleteIf she is an example of a media professor I think we can understand why most of the media are so intolerant of any viewpoint but their own. My 5th grade teacher (WW2 vet)always taught us that you could tell a person's lack of education by the amount of foul language they used.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't we all want her teaching our kids? Ugh
ReplyDeleteIs she an "Extremist," or what?
ReplyDeleteDoesn't anyone remember the problem that the pro-life movement has experienced and still continues to experience with censorship? The Gosnell trial coverage is the latest example. Folks we have got to get the news of the barbarity of the crime of abortion out there! If you have a better way than showing the victims, DO IT! We oftentimes raised 1000s of dollars for various TV and radio ads only to have the stations censor the more positive message about respecting all human life which was portrayed in all of them. Until the genocide Awareness Project came along, no one was getting the message. Do we really want to stop abortion or are you more concerned that people feel good about themselves? Would you oppose having former concentration camp guards' feelings protected by not showing the Holocaust victims or would you like to protect other potential victims from actual death and dismemberment? Feelings come and go. Death comes only once to man. The blood of these little ones is crying to God in heaven for JUSTICE! If that means getting some people to think about their complicity, it is the first step towards ending it.
ReplyDeleteImages of the German genocide against the Jews, the Poles, the Roma and Sinti peoples are historical records which document the facts, which inspire revulsion, and which are useful (though not entirely effective) in ensuring that history does not repeat itself. Certainly, the Third Reich did not permit such documentation to appear in the press. Abortionists and their collaborators benefit from the refusal of our press to inform us about the realities of abortion. Witness the lack of coverage of the trial of Kermit Gosnell. Kudos to the UB Students for Life for their efforts to bring the horrific reality to the attention of their peers.
ReplyDeleteThere is no story without the image to which she refers... y'all need to attend her media class on how to present a story. Also, she is not a professor. Adjuncts are essentially self-employed lecturers. It is extremely unlikely any prof would behave so, or any such person would ever make prof. Right now a pro-life site is promoting a foul-mouth gal being arrested, there is no evidence of anything else.
ReplyDeleteShe represents the new female of the Left....no inhibitions, no morals, promiscuous, no self respect for herself, her body or anyone else, and, certainly no ethics. I think, as a women who fought for Women's Rights in the l960's, that the death of 60,000,000 and counting since Roe vs. Wade is enough...60 million babies and, when you look really deeply into the horror you will find that it follows the eugencist and racist, Margaret Sanger. Her dictate that lesser beings were best gotten rid of...my paraphrasing...this is one of the foundational precepts of the progressives who merged with the Democratic Party in the early l930's...Today, we face monsters like Gosnell who cares less for the humans he treats or the babies he kills by inserting scissors and cutting the spinal cord...it is ideology of the worst kind!
ReplyDeleteI have been informed that "UB Students for Life" is being required by the University to pay for the police presence. Perhaps they will receive some contributions from the readers of this web page to cover these costs.
ReplyDeleteI wonder whether the abortion mills are required to pay for police protection when such protection is deemed necessary. We already know the answer to that question, don't we?
An instructor of Media Studies? How ironic that her response to a visual display was so inarticulate and so unreasoned. The videoclip is a sad commentary on the state of the Media Studies program at UB.
ReplyDeleteSo the "act" of abortion isn't profane but a photograph of the act is? WOW. Can you say hypocritical?
ReplyDeleteSue (extort) the college; sue the professor. It's time to use the left's favorite weapon against them.
ReplyDeleteIf this Lady wants to be a Student that's fine but as long as she is an Employee ,she is bound to the guidelines and mission of the College, that being encouraging honest and open debate amongst the students. She was in my opinion at variance with that mission.
ReplyDeletetell laura dip-shit curry to shut the f up
ReplyDeletewhy has this hag been fired ??
what P.O.S.
oops meant to say why HASNT she been fired?
ReplyDeletethey did the same thing at my school two days ago, and told them they were "fucking disgusting" larger blown up billboards of severed baby limbs holding quarters and in jars doesn't help me take a single look at their cause, and really bothered me that they just post it on a wall by the school. Children shouldn't have to see those images.
ReplyDeletethe poster who claimed the pro-lifers were yelling and abusing people...
ReplyDeleteI want proof. Show the video.
I don't believe you. I want to see the evidence. Pro-lifers I know, are nothing like what you are describing (except in your imagination... and with exception of some nutters). I want to see these exceptions-to-the-rule because I'll bet they are not at all representative like you are portraying.
Pro-life nut-jobs exist, but they usually don't congregate at events like this because those who genuinely understand and protest abortion are not such caricatures, and they disassociate from them.
show the video. I want to see the numbers, and I want to see the reaction of the genuinely pro-life and caring students who oppose child-killing,
P.S. I have children whom I DO NOT want to see these images, but I tend to see it as the fault of those who perpetrate abortion. I didn't want them to see blacks hung from trees, but they stumbled across that in Life magazine before I felt they were "ready."

Looks like this video is gone too!
ReplyDeletewell lookie-there, she already has people behind her:
ReplyDeletehttp://nysr.tumblr.com/post/48199015933/stand-with-laura-curry
excerpts:
"Stand With Laura Curry
Hi tumblr friends, my friend was unjustly arrested on Monday and I’m helping with the defense committee. Here’s what went down from the official statement:" ...
...
In response, throughout the day, groups of students and faculty engaged the pro-life picketers. One graduate student and adjunct instructor, Laura Curry, expressed her strong emotional response to the images and rhetoric of the pro-life group. When interrupted by campus police, she was arrested after demanding to know why her raised voice and expletives were more offensive than the hate speech displayed by the pro-life group. She is being charged with disorderly conduct and has an appearance ticket for the Amherst Town Court on May 9.
We are angry that the university should allow such racist, misogynistic content to be displayed on campus without any consequences or care for the safety and well-being of members of our community. We are ashamed that a strong emotional response to hate on campus is considered disorderly, while the hate itself is sanctioned. We are alarmed that the University Police used unilateral power in deciding which types of speech are and are not acceptable. "
